Smile

well done, cause many people mix and edit all produccions in Acid or Adobe audition.

I mix in a dual numark cd player.

I hear your mix, is perfect.

Thanks

Anyone listened?

Posted by cmay119 on May-18-2008 02:50:

Downloading. Will let you know once I'm finished with it. The tracklist looks quality. I've never heard track 13 before though, so I'll let my ears be the judge of that one...

Re: Radio Mix

So I listened to this last night right before bed, and then again this morning first thing while I was on a long, long bike ride to hopefully get my inspiration up for working on my own new promotional mix (which I actually had a due date on, for reasons not worth getting into ), and honestly it was just what I needed to get ready to play some kind of percussive, drummy techno/tech house.

Opening with "I Wish I was a Black Cat" was an interesting choice, just because I've had kind of a lot of trouble playing that tune as anything besides a beat tool or segue tune. It really shone here as an opener, which was nice if only because it was completely unexpected in that context. That Peace Division remix of Mazi and Duriez is so money - really an excellent opening three tunes all around. Then we got into this next part:

This is the best thing you've done - period. I've liked a lot of your older stuff, especially the Red Line mix - but this was all star. If anything, what I saw from you in this mix is that you've become miles better on decks and a mixer than you ever were in Ableton, and this is the section where it really shows. Perfect flow, sound mixing, loads of fun. This was what really inspired me to do what I got done today, so once it's up I at the very least hope you can hear what I took from this reflected in something I did.

All in all I've gotta say how impressed and proud I am to see you come so far in the past few years. You've really gone a long way, and the effort shows. You really did well with this one Clovis.

I forgot to comment, but I've listened to this a few times now and it's very fresh. I like it a lot.

Baller review. Rozzo tune actually wasn't the first track, it was Monoblock - Sugar Morph, and actually Black Cat went pretty good out of it. Radio show host forgot to hit record on his computer though

As for the rest, I feel much the same and glad you noticed those points. I thought that little run from the Kabuto & Koji tune onwards was fun as hell, lost that momentum going into the Guillaume section I think. I have not warped more than 4 tunes in Ableton in a year, CDJs and tagging with people late into the night/morning is just way more fun. I love using a mixer as opposed to a midi controller, and I think my EQing and general mixing skills have gotten much better because of that. Don't think I'll be doing anything on ableton but editing and producing from now on, its just not for me DJing wise...funny that its me saying that after all the ableton championing I used to do...

Posted by RJT on May-20-2008 03:40:

It's especially funny to hear you say that considering I just wired two computers up to my MIDI controller and have been switching between running 2 CDJ/2 Ableton lines, 2 CDJ, 1 Ableton and a looper line, and two Ableton lines and the looper into my Xone for the last month or so.

I definitely agree, insofar as playing live I love just having decks - but as far as working on promo material, my take on the last few has been to do them however they need to be done to get them to sound how I want.

In any event, as I said before - you've come a long way in the last few years. It's been fun to watch.

Really just need to start making music...ASAP

Dayum did I enjoy this set. Got me through the shitty traffic coming back from work today.

While I know too little about this style to actually give a halfway decent review I can say it was very smooth, very bumpin, and I really loved all the vocal / spoken word tracks. Great stuff can't wait to hear more.
