Playing devil's advocate...
...is a lot of fun.
Shit disturber!
*punch*
Oh, I'm not doing it here at the moment.
Just wondering if anyone else is a fan of it.
Im too opinionated to play it often. Normally I only play it in situations when im kinda on the fence, or if somebody has gone too far down one argument and I feel a bit of context is warranted.
To be honest I just prefer mocking people with obvious learning disorders.
Yes it's fun.
Oh, I'm a fan alright...I love freaking the shit out of people, specially with remarks about abortion, euthanasia, and shit like that...

Why play devils advocate if you agree with the person. Waste of time it seems.
On another forum I'm pretending to be a fundamentalist Christian who thinks that all Muslims and atheists should be deported.
I think I'll reveal my ruse soon, though.
I do it all the time.
I once convinced a friend of mine that the janjaweed should be officially brought on board as an ally in the War on Terror. Needless to say, there was some confusion once I realized what I'd done.

The question is...why?
1)For the sake of conversation?
2)Seeing that one side has more "potential" (e.g. more people supporting it) and hence you go with the other side in order to "balance" the "unfairness"?
3)Pushing your ego? Demonstrating how "clever" you are?
4) Just for "fun"? (ofcourse, this is NOT a real reason, but people often say it).
Or...
Is it necessary that when you play "devil's advocate" you actually play "devi's advocate"? Maybe deep-down you kind of..."support" the argument, or maybe you are "fond" of it, or you think that this could be your actual attitude, but unfortunately you have a better one (which could be the opposite!),or maybe you are NOT supposed to have it because it is not acceptable by your socio-economic/cultural/social/educational environment, and hence by "playing the devil's advocate" you have the chance to finally "adopt" it...
(this would imply that JBJ IS actually a fundamentalist christian or that he would like to be one...
)
or maybe...
when you play the "devil's advocate", you do it for the purposes of "exploring", from a first-person reference, the "other side" that you would never support/explore/analyse it otherwise. So there could be "exploratory" and "investigatory" reasons for playing the "devil's advocate" (notice that the "devil's advocate" may NOT be aware of any of these causes)
Just a few thoughts heh...
By devil do you mean chuck norris?
Mostly I just like riling people up by arguing for extreme and noxious views occasionally.

To be honest, that took a lot longer than I thought it would.

All the time because people never try to understand why they are in the current situation they are in.
Geez dumb people...sure you hate the authority figure in general I get it ... but can't you possibly try and think for a second or two?
I guess this explains why I am always the one in "charge" of others
