Ferry Corsten - Freedom

Posted by TranceArmstrong on May-10-2008 20:30:

sounds like Ferry is done with the electro nonsense and back to making good ol epic trance. I actually like this besides those robot vocals preaching to me about peace and freedom and what not.

this sounds very promising to be honest ... !

Meh.

I liked that harsh almost hard-trancish sound in the intro around the 40 second mark, but then the vocals came in, which were poo, and I didn't like the melody either.

Did anyone else notice the little girl in the left of frame? Is this the same one...?

sounds good, sounds very 1998-2001

I really don't like this. Sounds like a bad mix of Kai Tracid and Cosmic Gate from 6 years back.

Would make more sense when you know the background of this performance. Ferry crossed the country (Holland) in a helicopter on May 5th, to play at different festivals.
May 5th is "Bevrijdingsdag" = VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) as the banner at the video shows.
There are 13 Liberty-festivals spread over the country visited by 750,000 people. This year Ferry was the "Ambassador of Freedom" together with VanVelzen and Pete Philly & Perquisite.

So whether "Ferry is done with the electro nonsense and back to making good ol epic trance" remains to be seen.

What's with the fake EQ'ing and pretending to turn knobs at build-ups and breakdowns as if it is not part of the record? Absolute lack of dignity.

Don't like the melody.

Dutch crowd doesn't loosen up easily on the music, especially outdoors.
It's often been said by DJs that we Dutchies are spoiled, because we never have to wait long to see a big name come around.

The festival where Ferry was at also attracted a lot of "trance tourists" as it was a free event.

The festivals are not really visited by Dance/Trance lovers. Many different bands play different kind of genres. Most people just enjoy the day off and being together. I had to work Would you go just to see Ferry for an hour or so?

I was thinking the same thing. Although I doubted he was actually doing anything I dont know alot about the technical side of djing, so I was curious.

He wasn't fake EQing...he was preparing his next track with gains etc.

I love how everyone is cautiously shifting around on their feet and not dancing at all, especially when Ferry starts doing the dj clap.

Average at best.

I found the intro / outro a bit interesting, vocals really killed it for me, melody was kind of annoying.

Posted by Neon Sky on May-12-2008 17:51:

Its an ok track. Didn't like the annoying robot voice though.

I second that.. Can't really make my mind up. Sounded so promising at the start and then just ended up being slightly disspointing.. This is happening far to often these days..

Felt the same when listening to Mungos new track earlier on.

Posted by enydo on May-12-2008 21:50:

Yep, around the 1:40 ish mark that bassline came in and I thought the track was going somewhere different. I was really disappointed.
