Do all people cheat?

Having a conversation with my cowokers, and one of them cheats on his girl left and right.....all the while the girl has literally NO clue that its been going on for 7 years +. He does the most scumbag shit to get away with it, too. This coworker also professes his undying love for this girl, and says he wants to marry/have kids with her, but can not stay with one woman for sexual purposes. LOL.
..... And the other people (both men AND women) in the office are saying that everyone cheats at some point, and I am almost agreeing with them.

It seems as if humans are not "made" to be monogamous for their entire lives....... despite their "love" and "commitment", it seems as if most people have faced temptation and have given in.

Opinions?

*I think there was a thead in this before but I couldnt find it.........*

Basic animal instinct for males is to spread their seed in as many places as possible.

Basic animal instinct for females is to find the best mate to have the best offspring.

Hence why loyalty is so hard to find these days. It's one of those things money can't buy.

And yeah. Break up with the person if you're want to screw someone else.

I just don't understand the whole cheating thing. How do you answer to your conscience after you cheat on someone you supposedly love? (or you just don't have a conscience)

Chem: so you are saying that women rarely cheat? lol looks like the men are getting fooled as well Persoanlly, I know more women than men who cheat. (my experience.)

so are you guys saying that you have never EVER cheated? (even kissed someone on a drunken evening???)

Posted by *~LiSa-LoO~* on May-13-2008 18:35:

No, not all people cheat. It's impossible for someone to be attracted (physically, mentally, emotionally...whatever) to one person their entire life. However, if you're in a committed relationship, while one may be attracted to another person...if they truly love their significant other, they wouldn't act on those attractions.

had thoughts about someone else that'd send me to hell? hell yes

cheated? no.

course, you'd have to be in enough relationships to qualify whether you're a cheater or not

I have NEVER EVER CHEATED!!

No kisses, no sex. Not even rude thoughts!

Posted by Intangible on May-13-2008 18:38:

I really dont see the need for people to cheat. At least break up with the person first... If they arent satisfying you, move on, find someone else who will..

I really didnt think many people cheated, but as I get older I see it more and more.
And in sooo many cases its guys who are in 'very serious' relationships.

I was talking to a friend of mine who is engaged but his fiancee has been living in the states for the last 6 months. When I asked him if he has ever cheated on her (assuming he would say no cause he loves her soooo much) he looks at me like im dumb and says "ya ofcoruse, all guys cheat"

I know not ALL guys cheat, but I guess a lot do... Doesnt make me feel to excited to get into a relationship anytime soon

And NO.... I have NEVER EVER cheated, and never will.

Posted by barbina on May-13-2008 18:39:

I'm a cheater.. but I admit to it before I do it.. so hmm..

You are half a nun.

Cheating is easier for woman, a 300 pound amputee can get banged on any bar night, some girls think they are the apple of so many guys's eye thur-sun nights...but thats not the case.

In highschool i would date a few girls at once, but i didn't commit to any so i don't think thats cheating.

I agree with Dr.Phil's rule, if you wouldn't do it infront of your partner it probably counts as cheating.

On a side note, i have noticed alot of swingers pop up in the past 2 years a percentage even in the 19-25 yr range.

I don't really understand it unless your using a nasty rich person and agree to swap with couples so you could get the money and a decent sex life...but thats just a thought...an evil, evil thought

Does your man read these boards?? lol (kidding my love!)

wow you guys would have a SHIT FIT if you were in my office right now. The scumbag shit is coming out in FULL FORCE. lol

Also, I see a big difference between the scumbags who cheat left and right, as compared to the people who slip up and honestly had a momentary lapse in judgement.

(maybe because I am the "sex therapist") I find it hard to believe that people can stay faithful for their ENTIRE lives.

I know there are people out there who do stay faithful...... but I think the ratio of people who have NEVER slipped is small compared to those who HAVE slipped a time or two (or twenty). maybe I have been around my coworkers too long

Humans also have intelligence, intellect and free will (humans are not driven by instinct with every move [as animals are]).

Monogamy is a choice. If you care about your partner strongly enough you will live-by and respect that choice.

no...not saying that at all.....I know many women that have and do cheat on the men in their lives...I was just stating the basic difference in how men and women generally look at sex.

When it comes to cheating....everyone has a line that they have drawn....on one side of the line they can sleep soundly at night and on the other side they can't.....it all depends on what side of the line you put cheating.

my rule of thumb is if my GF thinks it would be cheating then its cheating....it doesn't matter what I think is cheating....cause she is the one who is going to be pissed off at me....and I've learned....you can't change someone's mind about whether or not what you did was cheating.

Id say the reason many cheat is bc they WANT someone else, but are of the mindset that they dont wanna loose what they currently have either.

Its a comforatable situation that works and prolly sees themlaid fairly often and with an individual they enjoy being around.

But even though they still like their significant other, they still see others out there that they want to get laid with.

Obviously they dont wanna loose the good situation they have currently (getting laid consistently with their currenet partner), so therefore they wont break up with them to just score a quick fuck (or series of fucks).

That way they are getting to score w/ the misc person they want to (for whatever reason), AND not loosing the good situation with the gf or bf.

Its all about not losing what you have currently by your wanton actions (fucking someone else on the side).

Im not saying its right (it sure as hell isnt, IMO), but i think it should be fairly clear as to why these ppl dont "break up" first before they cheat.... They dont wanan break up! They just wanna fuck another person and have it not cause them to loose their current relationship!

I can only have sex with a girl for a month or two before losing interest. I have no idea how I will ever get married and I feel bad for my girl because I love her but don't really even wanna have sex with her anymore. I would just rather jerk off most of the time.

Any advice?

I read a recent stat that says 20 percent of men and 10 percent of women. Keep in mind, your perceptions of cheating may be blurred depending on who you hang out with, etc. If you have skanks and guidos for friends, relatives, parents, etc, then of course your view is gonna be squewed
