cloverfield...
what a piece of shit. i know im late on these things, but i hate going to the movie theatre cuz of the fuck ass little kids so id rather just watch em at home. figure i bought an hdtv and have blockbuster online for a reason, right?
anyway... piece of shit... wow... the 2008 version of godzilla... shot like the blair witch project... with no ending... only 85 minutes long, about 30 of which are really pointless character development.
the only good thing about this movie was that bitch that got bit and then blew the fuck up... that was fucking dope... actually rewound right in the middle of the movie just to see that shit again and i never do that during movies.
anyone else waste 85 minutes of your life on this piece of shit? thoughts?
yea i managed to forget this movie it sucked so bad. i felt like i lost 85 valuable minutes of my life and i want it back
Not worth replying about.

I actually thought it was cool and different.
What was DIFFERENT about this........ all the little fun side projects they did so you can find out MORE secrets and piece things together.
There's alot of clues throughout the movie and when you go on the Japanese company's site where the main character was supposed to work, you find out more facts. Plus all the characters have myspaces. Plus you meet NEW characters who weren't in the movie yet had something tied in with the movie.
That's the best part. No movie is as interactive as Clover.

I really didn't find it all that bad. Out of all the monster movies it had to be my favorite.
From the actual monster and keeping it a secret to background stories on how the monster awoke.
Seeing the Sattelite fall in the ocean during the very last scene of the movie. It was pretty cool to me.
Not your typical "Godzilla". It was also cool to see the city all over the place. I can recognize the streets now haha.
lol damn and I wanted to buy this movie. Thank God I didn't
Instead I got WE OWN THE NIGHT and AMERICAN GANGSTER

Truly try to watch this with out crying. Or cutting your balls off... its just as hard. Anything to take away the pain of watching it.

Tripe, that's a new one.
Regarding Cloverfield:
I agree the movie is not well produced or directed...but the concept behind it all may be a tad more interesting for any true sci-fi fans. Apparently a Japanease publisher is releasing a 4 part manga called Cloverfield/Kinshin, which somehow discusses the company in Tokyo Rob was leaving to work for, one of it's subsidiaries and a someone named "Kinishin" who has ties to the monster.
Again I warn unless you like sci-fi a whole lot, stay away from Cloverfield and similar movies in general...most people go into these movies with a normal mind-set looking for some special character devlopment or some other brilliant plot...sometimes you just have to be a kid again and enoy the special effects...

Originally posted by AMMORA i'll agree with you about it appealing more to sci-fi junkies. the backstory is insanely complicated on this movie and there were stories/tie-ins for a year before the movie even got the OK to be made. jj abrams (dude behind Lost's major plot outline) had a hand in cloverfield and used a lot of tie-ins from side projects he's worked on creatively for years. so in short, this movie was just ONE tiny fraction of the bigger story and tie-ins occuring in over a dozen other movies, books, comic, tv shows, internet sites, etc. problem is, unless you're a suuuuper nerd with no job and no outside life you'd never have the time to figure all this shit out and read it all...

Originally posted by cclem exactly...i just really like the movies where you actually have to go and dig a little deeper to understand whats REALLY going on...not just the 85 minutes of (unfortunately not greatly directed) film...i'm glad someone besides me checked it out a little more, sci-fi movies are just dope in my opinion, as long as you have speildberg type directors
I don't see how this is a 2008 version of Godzilla? First off, Godzilla is a Jap thing...this was a way for them to make a Godzilla TYPE monster but a US thing...they even discussed it in the DVD special features interviews.
The directors had no intention of making this a "remake" of Godzilla.
Not the same kinda movie, I personally wasn't a big fan since I am not big on Sci-Fi. I know Anthony loved it cuz he likes all the Sci-Fi stuff...I guess it boils down to being a "p.o.s" just cuz Sci-Fi isn't your cup of tea.
Funny how the movie made it so big though.
Godzilla (1998)... what was the main location of that movie? nyc.
but please, try again.
It was shot in the city big deal? Every big 'devastation' is shot around NYC.
That's the only comparison you can make. It was shot 1st person.
Have an open mind while watching the movie. Not like 'oh no here's another monster movie'. You knew what you were getting yourself into. So if monster/sci fi isn't your thing then say that's the reason why you don't like it. I don't like western movies so I don't bother with 3:10 2 yuma even though I loooooooooooooooooooove adore C. Bale. Might see it one day but if I don't like it I sure as hell won't make a thread about it. There's worse crap out there.

Originally posted by PatMcGroin yes. there is worse crap out there. but personally, im kinda a movie guy. i watch and like a lot of different kinds. which is also why i watch a lot of different kind of movies. this movie just sucked. dont care about the extras. it just sucked. and 3:10 to yuma, i also dont like westerns (except maybe back to the future iii, which isnt really a western)... but i caught the last 45 mins of it on a hacked on demand channel and it actually wasnt bad at all.
