... and people laugh at the things Bush says?
Here is the Messiah, er, Obama yesterday in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. With no speech written by David Axelrod on a teleprompter, these are the kind of inexperienecd foolish things he says:
OBAMA: Right now, we don't have enough troops, and NATO hasn't provided enough troops because they are still angry about us going into Iraq. So we just don't have enough capacity right now to deal with -- and it's not just troops, by the way. It's like Arab -- Arab -- Arabic interpreters, Arab language speakers, we only have a certain number of them, and if they're all in Iraq, then it's harder for us to use them, and -- and obviously they may not speak Arabic, but the various dialects that they speak in Afghanistan, oftentimes people who speak Urdu or Pashtun or whatever the languages are, they're going to be needed in those areas, and a lot of them have ended up being placed elsewhere. So we've got to focus on Afghanistan.
Note: They speak Dari and Pashto in Afghanistan. Talk about an intimidating intellect. There, I guess, is the gravitas that the Democrats keep telling us Bush lacks. If you hear the actual sound bite, the stumbling over his words is hilarious. He was trying to tell these people in his audience that our foreign policy is all screwed up because every asset that we need to actually win the war against Islamofascists is in Iraq, and that's a phony war, it shouldn't have happened, we don't even have any Arabic translators for Afghanistan. And then he quickly realized, wait a minute, they don't speak Arabic there, oh, God, what am I going to do, then he makes up a couple languages that they speak, but then he said, we need some Arabic translators there because you never know who is there. I'm ready to be bashed by the Obama Kool-Aid drinkers now.
You made an alt just for this? Well done.
It's too bad Chuck Norris supported Huckabee and not Obama, he would have kicked your ass boy!
I'm here not for Obama, but because you're talking about language (Arab, Dari, Urdu, Pashto, whatever).
It would be nice if world leaders all knew that these languages (Dari, Urdu, Pashto) are actually closer to English than Arab (at least genetically). But, a president doesn't need to know these details - he knows they use a script that resembles Arab writing in Afghanistan, so it's not unfair to criticise him harshly because he thougth they spoke Arab rather than any other language. A president has secretaries to help him deal with these issues. It's not like he'll be directly in charge of naming Arab interpreters to Afghanistan or anything.
And, for that matter, it doesn't even compare to our favourite Bushisms =/
Sure did. Someone else made an Alt ripping on a Bush quote, and wasn't ridiculed. But, I must say, I like your quote about baggy jeans and stinky vaginas! I'd take Chuck Norris' old ass to school too
[QUOTE And, for that matter, it doesn't even compare to our favourite Bushisms =/ [/QUOTE]
I can't argue with that. Bushisms are pure hilarity
indeed. confusing 'pashto' and 'pashtun' is exactly like leading us into disatrous wars, stomping out civil liberties, and destroying our economy. well done, alt.
Fuck off with the alts.
Dude if thats the best you can do to show that Bush is on the same level as Obama, god fucking help us all.
Bottom line: He understands that the US Military has been stretched dangerously towards its limits. Bush does not. End of discussion.
i'm just posting to say that the alt was not me.
Nucular.
It might help to remember that Obama and Clinton are both in the midst of a brutal primary campaign that has stretched far longer and been more taxing and resource depleting than any in recent memory. They're getting minimal sleep, minimal time to spend pouring over issues, and next to nothing to prepare for various campaign stops and speeches. To take such an honest gaffe over foreign dialects and languages and put it up against an epic failure of a presidency, is pretty absurd.
Bet coming from the same fellow that brought us "pollution isn't really that bad" I can't say I'm surprised.
