Need some help with recording a set:
So I'm trying to use Audacity to record a set, and it keeps crashing with no reason as to why. I'm thinking that it's not enjoying some preferences or something, so can someone give me some advice with regards to what settings I should be using? (Samples, quality, and the like)
Computer specs:
Intel Q6600 2.4GHz Quad-Core
2GB RAM
Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1
Does it allow you to start recording for awhile, then shut down? Does it crash Audacity, or the whole computer?
Reinstall audacity, if you're using hte beta try using the stable build
It does indeed start recording, then Windows states that "Audacity.exe has encountered an error" (The standard crash window with the "send error report" option). It just crashes Audacity, the computer doesn't have any issues afterwards.
I have encountered this issue with both builds of Audacity(Beta and stable).
What OS are you running (XP/VIsta etc.)?
XP Pro.
By the way, I was recording at a 96000KHz sample rate, @24-bit. Sample rate converters, both Real-Time and High-Quality, are set at "High-Quality Sinc Interpolation," with Dithers set at "None" and "Triangle," respectively.
Could I bring it down to 41000KHz and 16-bit, and still have a demo-acceptable quality?
(This is in the beta Audacity, by the way.)

Alright, I'll give that a go...
What about sample conversion? Would quality be affected if I chose the fast option over the high-quality option?
Thanks for all the help, by the way.
Double post:
I just wanted to make a note here: Huge Success. Thanks for all your help, again!
Now a little more practice and I can has summer mix.
