How out of the blue was that!?

Any inside information on the reasons..? Pregnancy?

It's definately a loss for women's tennis..

I believe it's a combination of her burning out and wanting to have a regular life

It ws out of the blue. Ok, she was losing alot more games than she used to do so everybody imagined she would take a break or something. No one over here expected her to quit. I didnt either, didnt see it coming. She had always been alot more motivated than Klijsters and i figured she'ld be going on for at least 3-4 more years.

She aint pregnant or anything, well as far as we know... Just burned out, like vern said.

From what I know is, that she hasn't been playing well since the beginning of this year. Players have been injured for way longer than that and made a comeback, or not a comeback but not simply quitting after a relatively short period of not playing well. I haven't heard anything about Mauresmo for a longer time, but we didn't see her quit.

I've heard that her losing to Safina last week was the last she could take..

mentally she probably wasn't there at the start of the year. she begins losing, you lose an edge, and you just tell yourself that's it.
