[REVIEW] Menno De Jong, Rank1 & ECO @ Webster Hall
What a great night, just got back home.Met a lot of TA's. Detailed review after the break.
a little too much tambourine hands if you ask me
Had an awesome time. Rank 1 killed it and then Menno came on and was even better.. gotta love his little DJ tactics.
Choons I remember:
Rank 1:
Sia - Girl You Lost to Cocaine (SVD Remix)
Mike Foyle - Pandora
Vincent De Moor - Fly Away
Menno:
First State - Your Own Way (First State's Pounding Club Mix)
Sander Van Doorn - Pura Vida
I always tend to forget the tracks I heard last night, when I first wake up hahahaha.. yeah Menno put on quite the show, looks like he really enjoyed himself. I don't frequent Webster Hall, this was my third time there.. but last night was a bit crazy with the dancing midget and geisha's and devils and the giant giraffe/leopard stilt person.. my favorite was the girl dancing with the fro.
I was there last night with G Spot 88, Ktyas etc.
Holy shit Menno destroyed that place! So many classic bangers I didn't know what to do with myself.......def brought me back to the good old days.
I missed Eco's set (had to work late as always.) Got there about half way though Rank 1's set and it was pretty damn good.
The show last night was nothing short of a circus act lol. Trapeze girls hanging from ropes, all sorts of tranny activity going on, a midget dressed in a Speedo with a pimp cane......I couldn't believe my eyes lol.....very entertaining to say the least.
It was great seeing you all out last night.....and Steven and Sheila wow what a suprize. Juliana still doesn't believe that you are my god parents lol.
Menno was def enjoying himself......was slamming those red bulls like it was going out of style. And the sound was on point last night.....much better than the last few times I've been to WH.
Very nice job as always Mr. Brand! SICK PARTY!!!
Lets see some pics/vids

was there from the very beginning and had a blast! Eco's set was fire, i'm gonna have to get my hands on it if they recorded it cuz there were a few gems in there that I didn't know names of but liked VERY VERY much!
rank1 was great too, opened with They Always Come Back which is always nice to hear. I honestly expected menno to go on first, but i think it worked out anyway. When menno came on, he played quite hard. But he still had room for melodic energy trance, dropped 2 ralphie b tracks in a row (monkey forest followed by massive). That's what i like about menno, he's never afraid to spin older trance. By the time it was 4:30 i was dead tired and hungry, so I peaced out.
Great meeting everyone & seeing all the usual suspects!
Good times. Uploading pics now. Vids may take a while.
I'm going to keep part one of my review brief (I have a birthday lunch in 30 mins lol). I got lost before I got to the FDR then there was traffic, so I missed out on Eco's set and arrived during The Girl You Lost To Cocaine. This was one of those nights to remember... had just as much fun as Ferry (highlight of 2008 so far imo) and Menno brought it to NYC
. Highlight track of the night was Ralphie B - Massive - Original Mix, I heard someone requested that (Thank you for doing so if this is true!!!), made the night for me! \o/
I'll post Menno's track list later.... here is what I have for Rank 1 so far...

Didn't even realize Rank 1 dropped so many classics.. awesome night, just a little blurry haha.. I can't wait to see what you have for Menno.. And we walked in maybe a track or 2 before the girl you lost to cocaine.. is that what he opened with or that's where your list begins?

nice set eco. is the beautiful things mix on the newer side?
Nah, it's a bit old but I think flew really low under the radar amongst the hubub of the other mixes and original, or maybe wasn't fully released... I don't know for sure, but I fell upon it a few years ago and play it now and then for special occasions
I am uploading pics and vids now.
Tracks I can remember....
Rank 1 -
System F - Out of the Blue
Cara Dillon vs. 2Devine Black Is The Colour (Coco & Green Remix)
Anton Sonin & Amx ft. Sari - Undone (Rank 1 Remix)
Menno -
Blank & Jones - Miracle Cure (Martin Roth Nu Style Dub Mix)
Ralphie B - Massive
Simon Patterson - Smack
Cosmic Gate - Body of Conflict (at a faster BPM)
It was extremely hard to take videos. I was trying to stand still but my body was not cooperating with me. Menno was just banging out tune and after tune!!! Great night. I was there from start to finish and caught everyone's set. Excellent job Marcello! By far I think this was Rank 1's best NY performance.
wow is all i have to say. night started out bit difficult because i was ready to get to WH at 9:00 but it was an damn adventure just getting from my apartment to the TOTA's hotel which should have taken 45min rather than the 2hr plus time it took due to multiple hiccups. i missed marcello's set entirely and got there part way through rank 1's set (dammit for missing "they always come back" too).
anyhow loved loved both the sets i heard. banging good time all around. sound of goodbye (nic chagall rmx) always makes me smile/go nuts. too many good tracks to list right now but i have to say i was pretty happy that menno played that mat zo remix jolene
...brazen needs noticeable mention as well.
glad to see the usuals of course plus our visitors from toronto and san francisco.
great evening ended with a nice stack of blueberry pancakes a couple blocks away from WH...

Caught the last track Eco played, it was sweet
I might be the only one but I wasn't impressed with Rank 1's set I dunno maybe it was his mixing or I was just not feeling it
Menno, god damn you rocked it, that latino track just shows he's not afraid to change it up abit
Did I hear this M.I.K.E - Sunrise At Palamos
somewhere in the middle of menno's set??
great night! We got there exactly at 10 to take advantage of the free admission, which is always nice, although that hour where your trapped in the 80's room can get a little claustrophic lol.
Eco opened things up nicely in the main room. I was really feeling Rank 1's set. He mixed things up a lot...played a lot of that electro style trance thats big now, but also dropped a lot of classics....Rank 1 - Airwave and Kamaya Painters - Endless Wave being my two favs. He did kind of look kind of grumpy though up there for some reason. No complaints though, he killed it.
Didn't stay for more than about 45 minutes of Menno as we had to call it an early night. He was having a blast though, very energetic dj.
great party.
oh, and I think last night was the least amount of money I have ever spent out at a club...we bought the 10 drinks for $50 ticket online, and I was pretty much set for the night. $50 for two people all night? Not bad at all.

damn you lucky sonz.... I was suppose to hit this one up....but I had to attend a bachelor party....fuq fuq fuq...great pics tho....glad you all had fun,,, Menno de jong def has good taste.........hope he will come back sometime soon..........
I <3 Menno
I had no doubt that the man would bring it, and he did!
I heard he did a repeat on the "jumping on the decks move" as well! haha what energy that kid has!
Kinda shitty I had to leave so early for responsibilities in the morning, but to tell you the truth, I was WORN OUT from rank and menno's constant amazing-ness
Extra bonus having nada, ali, kal and shay there <3 <3 (the newlyweds!!) you kids are the shit. Awesome dinner beforehand (nada sushi??) and always a pleasure in da club with these kids
<3 <3
As usual the peeps make the party
Marcello: seriously dude, I have NO LUCK with your freakin sets. Soemthing always goes wrong and thats the damn truth
Missed it again
Between wai's 2 hour journey downtown and forgotten ID's at the hotel and late dinners.... NO LUCK!!!
truly feel bad
PICS
Starting to upload vids now.
