newsgroups is amazing

look at my speed!!!
I am teh confused.
are!
btw thats really fucking fast
look above my winamp icon, 8.0Mb/Sec = 1.0 MB/Sec
filthy pirate! you have a mighty e-penis.
ye man newsgroups fuckin own providing you pay the monthlies!
Newsgroups are the best way to download and always have been for me. I have used Bit Torrent , DC++ , Soulseek and FTP's but newsgroups kick ass. Okay so you might have to pay $10 a month but with speeds upto 1m/b second I can download a DVDRip in about 10 minutes or a 4.5Gb DVD in 30mins and the best thing about it is its Legal as your not actually sharing or re-distributing content
BTW Which client is that and how much do you pay ?

Newsgroups are fast I agree, but after a month of using them, I went back to uTorrent for all my tv show / movie needs, I just find it much cleaner using torrents.
Finding entire seasons of shows proved more difficult with newsgroups.
Still, I do miss the 700k/s downloads, max I get is 400 from torrents.
look into giganews.....
I have great speed plus security for about 9bucks a month
Usenet is awesome. I just hope it doesn't get too much attention from the wrong kind of people.
Giganews + Newsbin + NewZbin.com = Holy Fuck I love the INTERNETS!

I don't really understand why people still divide files into a zillion .rar pieces. Guess it made sense back then at the start of the internet, but nowadays, wtf? Are there still limits to the size of the files or something?
I remember being into newsgroups when i was a teenager and this whole internet thing was brand new, before getting into this sort of forums like TA. How does it work nowadays? Still the same?

Those speeds are not uncommon. At work I get 1.3MB per second (1300k) off newsgroups. At one point with Comcast for a period of about 3 months, I was getting 3.2MB (3200k per second) off my newsgroup provider but then one day, it all stopped and I went back to around 800k per second.
