Called Roger’s customer service centre to change something on my Essential Plan and the rep tells me Roger’s is now offering “Unlimited Web Browsing” and I ask the guy a few times to makes sure I can surf the web with unlimited access. He says, yes and even ask me what unit I’m using. I changed it and started to surfed the web for a bit and etc.

Thanks to my GF, she contacts a friend of her and finds out this Unlimited Web Browsing is for WAP only! Surfing the web on my Treo 680 is considered Internet Data. (How you figure? Their both using GPRS, WAP2.0 and internet data to transfer data back and forth) I call the tech support, which re-routes me to PDA support and then back to customer service again. The rep. tells me “all device that is a BlackBerry, WM OS and Palm OS must use internet data, b/c when you surf the web it’s just like what you see on the computer and WAP is very limited, and only works on normal cell phones” Had to report I was missed informed and changed my plan to another one. Let’s hope they waive that data usage … but, I doubt it. Lucky me it was for about an hour, imagine I used it for a month non-stop and found out from my bill?

Please be careful you don’t get confused with this like me … this plan below is not unlimited web browsing for PDA Phones

Roger’s is slowly moving towards the real world of cellular services, the iPhone will have a unlimited web browsing for $7.00, now let’s see what’s the catch with that plan and what's the limitation. Once T-Mobile comes, the real deal will start happening and Roger’s will have to adjust to compete. T-Moblie is going to have TRUE unlimited data plan for Blackberry and every PDA phone for a flat fee, not this cheesy WAP package. I honestly hope T-Mobile will crush Roger’s and teach them a real lesson.

I got nailed hard on exactly this issue and it compounded to the point that my BlackBerry is now deactivated due to Rogers' outright refusal to reverse the charges.

Be careful - Absolutely can't wait for T-Mobile to come north.

Rogers should be called ROBBERS

They are the biggest pieces of shit on this earth. They will see how fast i change companies when a big player comes in. The only reason im with them is becuase they are GSM based.

Once the Iphone comes to Canada.. they will be STUPID not to offer unlimited data packages.. the phone was MADE to download a ton of stuff.

My buddy in New York Pays 20 bucks for unlmited data... and there are no raoming charges to use the data... so he can use the net with his iphone in Puesto Rico,... Hawaii, and Alaska... without being charged. Not only that.. ther is no such thing as Roaming in the US anymore.

If i drive to burlington... ROBBERS starts to charge long distance rates..

FUCK THEM AND THEIR MOTHERS\


P.S Dont get your hopes up to high guys.. i dont think T-Mobile or AT&T will be coming here any time soon.. they backed out of the wireless auction block the government made to create more competition around the wirelss oligopoly

Ahhhh I fell for this too .. I fucking hate rogers.. getting a plan with them is the worst decision Ive made since Ive moved here.. my phone bill was supposed to be 30-70 a month which was no big deal.. but lately they've been over 200$!!

errrrrr all the fine print and supposedly "free" add ons suck balls.
Im canceling my plan as soon as I get the charges dropped and using my American [sprint] phone until I do so .. I cannot believe its cheaper to use an international phone .. grrr so angry

Your gonna use your Sprint phone in TO? You don;t get roaming charges for making calls and etc? I know using Internet Data can be by passed

My plan has it set to like 4 cents per minute for call and unlimited text.. and since I really don't call anyone anyway its not too bad

lol, sounds like the plan is 'unlimited' as long as your money doesn't run out..

when is T-mobile coming to Canada?

Fido kinda screwed me over once..........usually my bill for normal month is on an avg $86........2 months ago I was browsing TA on my cell and my bill automatically was $190.00 the following month.......

What type of phone do you have? I'm on Fido as well, and I have the unlimited surfing package for $7. I go nuts on it, and have never been charged more than $7.

lol browsing the net on the phone is the worst
one time with rogers i went online on my hone to check out ONE! website to see how the web looks on the phone
i got a bill next month 20 bucks more than regular, i was like what the fuck? just for one website? i called them and they are like we charge a buck for 5kb of data or some stupid shit like that.

CELL PHONE - WAP

Doesn't matter what networks your on .... once they detect your device uses HTML instead of WAP, it kicks in

also even if your on a phone, you don't have a plan it charges you 0.05 per KB

So how much is this unlimited plan for a cell phone???

I believe Apple is insisting on this. They won't allow the phone to be sold without a reasonably-priced unlimited data plan.

'Course the consequence of that may just be that it'll be a long time before we get the iPhone here.

And people wonder why theres no iPhone in Canada yet?
Well its cause Rogers wont be able to be the Carrier and still soke people! lol The figure the average user data bill for the month w/b close to $500.00 and several of the phones features such as Video Calling will still be limited!

Rogers claim they are waiting for v2 of the phone.... bs they are trying to figure out the next scheme to soak people!

I myself completely had them suspend all internet on my HTC Smartphone.
First I had a 40$ / 8mb month DataPlan and they where alway charging me almost double when I wasnt even using the Phone for Data? some how the phone was accessing it by itself. Then I cancelled the DataPlan altogether. and the phone was still doing it except @ .05 per Kb. So my last bill was almost $40.00 for just under 800k lol!
Thant when i said enough is enough.. the funny thing is they have credited back every cent I claim i never used to the tune of almost $300 in the last 6 mths!

The funny thing is John is right theres no really diff between the Voice and the Data now that the voice is digital.. it data! lol

Rumor

Rogers/Fido have had unlimited Internet use for $7 for quite a while now (WAP only) and apparently works for the new N95 which is pretty sweet!


There is no such thing as an unlimited DATA plan as of right now. Rogers did have one at one point for $50/month which is an awesome add-on if you got your hands on it when they offered it.

But right now we're SOL for unlimited Data...
