Recording Studios in the NY/MD/DC/NJ area?

Can anyone recommend good recording studios in the Northeastern part of the US (like NY/NJ area for instance, or MD/DC) that specialize in dance music, and can help record vocals?

Also, does anyone know if these studios are associated with vocalists or have a directory of vocalists that you can book? I'm willing to pay the money but I need to find a female vocalist for a Dance/Trance track and record it in a professional studio, and I don't even where to start looking.

Since you're new to the dance musician arena, you should try to find amateur producers who are utilizing their bedroom studio setup. Pro musicians are probably going to look for pro vocalists. Get some experience under your belt with dance music collabs, and you'll be making progress towards working with pros.

Also bare in mind that many notable signed artists operate out of their houses in their home studio, not a full blown professional recording studio. Professional recording studios are *expensive* and overkill for dance music and day-to-day production. In the case of capturing great quality vocals, all that's needed is a solid microphone, a good room and environment, and good recording settings. No pro studio needed.

Myspace is a good answer. I met my vocalist collaborator on Craigslist.

Not sure... may be some producers on there.
