ableton question... adjusting the time scale to start with a delay

For me and it seems a lot of other people, my beat does not start at the very beginning, and I have a short intro sound/synth/noise/etc that lasts maybe 4 or so beats before the actual drums start. I want Ableton to reference the start of the song at the first downbeat. Any idea how to do this?

you move the starting warp marker to the first beat

nah, not talking about warping within a clip, i mean the overall project in the arrangement view. But, if you can do something like what your talking about in the overall view, I'll go take a look.

i don't get what you want ableton to do?

I have a short, white noise intro, and the first downbeat is about a bar or two into the song. Ableton's time scale at the top of arrangement view obviously doesn't match up with the first downbeat, so it would be nice to be able to adjust the first marker.

gotcha. no way to move the grid up top, sry. best bet is just to have the whitenoise intro off to the side until you finish the tune and then insert a bar for the intro when you're ready

Yeah, and you can do this quickest if you hit insert silence when your about to do it, its under edit or something I think

Yes man don't make it complicated that's how I do it and I think that's how everyone does it

thanks guys, ive gotten by so far by just using the customizable flags/markers in arrangement view to mark the phrases as I progress through the song.
