I'm new here so i'm not going to pretend like i know a lot but, Those two questions have been beaten to death. I'd suggest reading the FAQ. A quick read through of that answered both those questions in about 2 minutes for me.

Every program can use the same VST Instruments, import the same samples, apply the same effects.

How can then any program be better than any other in making trance ?

+1. Ultimately, the best program for making trance or any style of music is one that gets the job done and that you're comfortable with. A lot of people use FLS7/8, others use Reason, Cubase, Live, Logic, Digital Performer, or Sonar (my weapon of choice). My advice is to ask yourself what you like and don't like about FLS8 and ask more specific question regarding how other DAWs handle those issues.

Logic is the best program really, so you need to buy a Mac imo.

there is no "best" program. Its what you find "best" to work with.

There are numerous amazing trance tracks made on all platforms, which most people wouldnt know what they were made with if they werent told beforehand.

Try out demo's to start with.

I use Reaper @ http://www.cockos.com/reaper/ as i find it v.lite on system resources and flexible when it comes t routing sound.

Check KVR @ www.kvraudio.com for info on plugins including some very good free ones.

What kind of FX/Synths you looking for?

Search for torrents and download cubase SX 3 and rewire ableton live 7 and reason 4 and find all possible VST synths and FX and sample packs. Really, I have 100+ gig of samples, you can't create a track without them. You'll make supergigamegatracks that will sound a lot better than the FL toy.

+1 - I use Reason, which most producers hate haha...

reason is bomb but it has no vst support. and no recording. so it kinda sucks but its great.

Reaper is definitely my favorite.

hahaha "in powertracks pro audio twelve" How many times does he say that in fact?

You did not mention the price: 49$, for a software that has features no others have on the market.

Posted by Pjotr G on May-26-2008 20:15:

yep, I especially like the feature where you can have a fractional bpm, such as 120.1

It's all in the newfound power of floating point operations!
