Will H - Promotion [2x Release: Trance/Progressive & Various House]
This thursday I'm getting promoted from Second to First Lieutenant. rockin'. I've been trying to think of a way to musically express what the first two years have been like; and what i think the next two years will be like...and i think i finally got it right.
the first release [GOLD] starts off with the nice trancey/progressive sound of Lutral/Terry Bones. its what my first rank has reminded me of: almost a surreal adventure, a wild ride, a series of events that will remain in my memory forever...from making new friends, to seeing old ones move away...traveling across the southeast, and getting my career started. Gold finishes with Dave Spoon's epic "Sunrise", slightly sped up, and added a touch of pure house vocals. I may have made a lot of mistakes during the first two years, but I certainly won't do them again.
the second release [SILVER] starts off where Gold ends...hot house material, and continues throughout...mixing in various blends of house to include tribal, funk, disco, vocal, soul, anthem, progressive, and even a little diva (lol). its what i think my new rank will be like: another crazy and fun adventure, with more traveling, more responsibilities, and more rewards...the vocals in the last track really hit home, meaning to me that nothing is ever guarunteed, and you gotta be able to continue on even when promises are broken.

@ will: as soon as i saw gold to silver i knew exactly what this was about, belated congrats on not being a butter bar anymore. i'm hitting silver in december, i hope.
i'm liking the adam k, soha, and paul keeley (esp naam, kickass). looking forward to this.
alright i finally listened to both.
i really like the first one. it's a style that i've enjoyed myself over the years. it's the perfect "club" sound and i think it was well put together.
the second part was alright. but it really got into this general house/electro sound that's... bland i guess. almost cheesy. the gays out here love it at the club tho. so maybe i'm just being a hater.
good job overall. for never really hearing you mix before i must say i was pleased with the results.

nice work will, a fun listen throughout, really liked the last half of part 2. i'm pretty sure i just found an old promo mix of yours lost on my hard drive - no year, just "august promo mix." i'll have to give that listen one of these days.
Silver looks delicious, just what I need for a Monday morning hangover at work.
