[Fri Jun 6] House Legend MILES MAEDAs ONLY West Coast gig in 08, plus More DJs*
On FRI June 6, INCOGNITO Global and CACHEMUSIC presentGET DOWN @KING KING with the elusive DJ MILES MAEDA*
Miles Maeda is one of the pioneering members of Chicagos house scene in the early 90s. His contributions to the EDM world are innumerable, from 'Material' night at Shelter with Colette and Josh Werner (Antenna), 'Atmospheric Audio Chair' with Josh and Ken Waagner (Hit It), and his current residency at the Smartbar, along with fellow co-residents DJ Heather, DJ Colette, Justin Long (No Assembly Firm) and Kaskade.
Besides the music, he has other endeavors like being a certified yoga teacher (World Evolution Yoga) and traveling the world (Traveling Love Show). Still, he has found time for his new record label (Bopsa) which features releases by Derrick Carter, Lawnchair Generals and Swirl People.
Simply put, he is one busy person. After more than a year, and before he moves to Japan, he has decided to spin one more time for the LA denizens, his brand of meaningful house music.
Supporting that night will be underground superstar G-DUBBS (Sacred Grounds), the eclectic APARTMENT DJs (Groovet3k, INCOGNITO) and the lovely GIANGSTAR (KNK).
This is a one time gig by the elusive Miles Maeda so dont miss it! Youll never know how long it will take before it happens again.

First Fridays @ the Guggenheim with MILES MAEDA & DJ THREE
First Fridays @ the Guggenheim with MILES MAEDA & DJ THREE
With the relaunch of First Fridays on September 1st, the party rocked the Guggenheim like it had never left, with Chicago house legend Miles Maeda and genre-warping producer DJ Three packing the floor. The cutting-edge music was complemented by the forward-thinking architectural designs of Zaha Hadid, which have found a perfect temporary home within the spiraling galleries.

wow thats a very cool looking place
yup! need to go back to NY and check out the Guggenheim museum. I remember MOCA in downtown LA doing the same thing called MOCA After Dark.
The Getty also has Fridays Off the 405, also with Flavorpill.

Pepperjack's DEMF review
Arriving around opening time is great for the first day of any festival, but by now we knew the best route downtown and the stages by heart. Sunday we slept in and decided to eat a real meal - something we hadnt done since dinner Friday night. We needed the energy.
Sunday had the most promising DJs, most either back to back or at conflicting times.
Sunday, May 25th - Vitamin Water Stage
2:00-3:30 pm Keith Worthy
3:30-5:00 pm Alton Miller
5:00-7:00 pm Lawnchair Generals
7:00-9:00 pm MILES MAEDA
9:00-11:00 pm Mark Farina
11:00 pm 12:00 am Carl Craig live
Our mission was to juggle three house sets in a row at the VitaminWater stage and three techno sets in a row at the Beatport stage. A few shots of yager and we were ready. At the VitaminWater stage, the Lawnchair Generals greeted us with the haus musique we had been craving while being surrounded by techno. We wandered the grounds, soaking in the sun and bright beats. We took a break at the Beatport stage, as Paco Osuna serenaded us with his exotic bass - cant say no to his techno. Then we ran back to the VitaminWater stage for magical dancing to MILES MAEDA, clearly sprinkling west coast house, fine and funky, for the next act. I walked back to the Beatport stage for Magda. Im not usually a fan of minimal, but her dirty bass can rock my ears anyday.
Not a bad way to end our stay at DEMF. We marched back to the hotel, intent on getting a full night sleep. We had a long drive back home, but our hearts were light.

as usual, its looking good at King King Fridays!

See you TONIGHT at King King for good vibes quality house music!
This event was fantastic! It had the perfect vibe, people, music, and venue!
I took my wife out to celebrate her getting a graduate degree, and we danced until 3:00! For reference, at all the mainstream venues she is bored and rolling her eyes within 30 minutes.
It is nice going somewhere to chill and dance where people are not facing forward to the dj like it is a rock concert.
Thanks for posting this!
edit: haha, I just looked at the Tiesto photos and wanted to say thanks again!

we are glad you had fun and its good to hear that we made a believer out of your wife...at least up to 3am, so to speak =) but we had a fantastic crowd until 4am, so we still have to strive to make sure your wife enjoys it a tad more next time...hehe.
