someone posted about Ruby Skye starting an 18+ monthly (not a cool club but whatever) but imo if you need to get underage people in somewhere take them to an underground. doesn't matter how old you are if nobody's checking ID.

Yea we are doing an 18+ party at ruby skye (as posted above). A couple of future names we are looking at booking: Marcus Schossow, Solorstone, Mike EFEX
Ruby Skye is a very nice club, the sound system is amazing inside.. Its been voted best sound from WMC for three years. Tiesto, Armin, ferry all just played there this month.. Once we get things rolling we will get bigger and bigger names.. I hope you can come to at least check it out
BTW I have set up a reduced admission guest list to get in
Sign up @ www.reactionsf.com/Torqsf
Regular Cover $20
reduced admission $15 before 11pm
Presale tickets from ticket web $15 (anytime)
I'll just come out and say it but $25 on a weekday night for a 18+ evet is real rough for no true headliner.
$15 discount list for a first event is real rough.
Gotta make it appealing for people to come out on a weekday night. I've seen mid-major headliners for less during the week.
CL+J00F presales were only $15...and that on a Friday night.
Again, rough! Just my opinion...take it for what it's worth. Not saying $25 (or even $15). won't be the right price some day, but for launching a night where you need to focus on bringing in a regular crowd, the steep price (along with gas/commute costs, etc) may hurt that progress.
Good luck. Hope it goes well as this city needs an evrent like this. I'll try to attend, but gonna be super busy with work until the end of July.
TORQ Prices
Hey man-
Good lookin out! Im actually glad you mentioned the price because that was a typo on our part. Tickets are $15 pre-sale/discount list and $20 at the door.
I totally get what you are saying about the cover charge price, however, being that TORQ is not an in-house production, we have to make sure we cover our costs (space rental, bar guaranteeblah blah blah). We arent trying to knock people over the head at the door, I just want to make sure I dont lose my shorts and more. Weve spent a lot of time brainstorming to make this a very different and special event so hopefully people will notice the effort and think it is worth the money.
Like you, I think the city could really use an event like this so hopefully it will be a success.
Hope you can make it, if not Im sure Ill see you soon enough.
Thanks again for the feedback. As you know, this is a new venture for us so thoughts and comments are much appreciated.
Should put the DJ setup at floor level, too, not on stage.
Dave
we have been tossing that idea around.
still not sure which would be better. both have + and -
thanks for the tip though
Pros:
1. Makes it more intimate. Something that people really like when it's possible. Instant appeal in that regard. I heard from people ALL THE TIME that they like when Ruby does that.
2. Place seems fuller than it would be with the setup on stage.
3. When people first show up and the setup is on stage, people are tentative to even take a step on the dance floor until some drinks are in them...they just hang around the edges of the floor. This setup make it more attractive to get near the DJ to have a drink when the place is first opening...a lot of people are curious to what the DJ is doing and can see what's up easily
Cons:
1. Causes a huge empty area behind the DJ setup. A shocker when you first enter, but honestly in my experience after a little bit you just forget the stage area behind the setup exists...
2. Can seem a little weird with RS regulars...just wonky.
3. I dunno....honestly....that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
Anyhow, just my thoughts/reasons behind it. Your chizzoice!
couldn't agree there more with you Dave.
Looks like its going on the floor
the only valid point in a "cons" category is if it would
be too full , so you would actually need the extra space
on the dancefloor, but its highly doubtful we will get
to that point for these first few parties until the schools
starts again.
thanks for clarifying it to me.
as i said before, any comments, good or bad are highly
appreciated and welcomed.
