HDTV & Home Theater PCs
So I'm looking to get a 50+" flat screen, and a home theater pc - rip all my dvds, do a media center type of thing...
So my question is, AMD boards have several that come with onboard HDMI. Anyone know how onboard graphics & such relates to dvd quality and screen quality for movie watching? I really won't need it for anything more than watching movies, so gaming is not really an issue...
if the onboard is nvidia, it might be worth looking into. with any video a separate card as almost universally better. it doesnt have to be a gaming card, but a decent standalone HDMI card will offer more res options, software controls in most cases, plus it doesnt tax the system as much by borrowing system memory, etc|
Make sure anything you buy with HDMI has the HDCP compliance logo/classification. I hate it, you hate it, everyone hates it... but if you want it to work with any sort of HD disk you need it.

Check out AMD 780G. I have an AMD 4850e on a Biostar mobo that plays everything w/ the onboard ATI graphics. Even super high bitrate 1080p HD movies, regardless of type of encode, look perfect with no stuttering.
The Biostar board doesn't have HDMI tho, but I just bought a DVI to HDMI cable for 5 bucks and it works great. I think all the other 780G boards have HDMI if that's an issue.
