linear algebra...

...sucks.

ive been studying my ass off for the past few hours and still really have no clue whats going on. god i hope i dont fail this class. thats the last thing i need.

oh yea, and how come i dont really have any problems in my hard ass electrical engineering classes but this one im having a super hard time in?

anyone else have/had any classes that just seem impossible to get by? im mostly looking for stories of encouragement seeing as the drop date was monday and now im stuck.

oh i actually love math (hence the electrical engineering degree thats in progress, almost done actually) but this linear algebra math and beyond is like HARDCORE... prove this, show this, understand this theorem. i like when you gimme numbers and i solve the problem. or design this system to meet these specs kinda shit.

not prove that 0 + 0 = 0. and yes! we did that like 2 weeks ago in class and the professor actually got stuck on the proof!!

I had hoped to do the same, but then encountered multitudes of statistics in my psych degree

Fucking. Hate. Maths.

can i order half a dozen really slutty calculators?

Posted by elFreak on Jun-04-2008 06:19:

girls don't do math here they get married. but i can dress a 12 year old boy in a sailor moon outfit. They pretty much have the same body as a fully developped asian woman.

Oh lucky, you only had to do 1 unit? We had to do one unit per year, and a good number of the other classes required a decent level of stats use/knowledge anyway. Pricks.

well, you chose the degree mate! no sympathy from me. would've been nice to have done psych when it was part of humanities though wouldnt it?

I found these video lectures to be pretty helpful whenever I didn't get something in lecture/through the book.

http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Mathemati...tures/index.htm

The prof tends to be pretty practical as opposed to mathy/rigorous.

I took it with a different one who was the opposite...and that shit was hard... the averages on the tests hovered around the 50s

In Senior High, I had an AP Chemistry class with a 1st year teacher (who was actually still a UC student that was plucked to fill a void in the teacher shortage in California). Chemistry has ALWAYS been my absolute worst subject, although I find it endlessly fascinating. At the end of the class year, everyone had an F Minus. The instructor decided to erase half the test scores, multiply the score of the Final by 3, and grade on a curve.

Lucky me, I had the highest failing grade.
Unlucky me, the entire class was called in for a day during the summer vacation for an investigation+audit.

aw dude that sucks...

i did good on the first exam and first 2 quizzes... fucked up on the last one and got one tomorrow plus second exam next week then final the week after... its just if i dont understand the shit we're doing now im fucked for the rest of the class and will fail. although i figured out my grade to the point where i can get around 60s on the 2nd exam and final and still get a B-. which at this point i will fucking do flips and a half for... but we'll see how it goes.

i quit maths at year 11. it was compulsory, but i knew i didn't need it as a prerequisite for anything. it was the first and only subject i have ever failed - i wrote my name at the top of the paper and handed it back.

oh... i got HDs for stats + programming at uni haha.

I've been there, just pop an aderol and go to the library and study and do problems for 14 straight hours right up untill the exam. It worked for me, and by hour 7 you'll actually feel like you know what you're doing.

why don't u go see the professor or one of the Korean TA's and get some understanding of the concepts your lacking on...instead of asking how to do advanced math on a music forum.

i dont necessarily think a drug will help me understand something, itll just keep me focused, but that was actually my plan this weekend. at this point, it sure as hell cant hurt.

I still dont understand that bastard, 4 years after fudging an exam proof of it.
