Big trance track opinions needed! JP8000Lover?
Hi all,
It's Steve here from The Fanatics of Twist with a stomping track for you to check out! Or is it.. I'd be really interested in your opinions as you guys certainly know your music, and over the years I've downloaded countless sets and tracks from the Tranceaddict archives.
I mention JP8000Lover particularly as I saw your constructive comments for another track and think you made some very good points. If you have any spare time, I'd be really grateful as we do take on board every opinion.
It's that Beatport contest again... Paul van Dyk - Far Away (Gatecrasher Tribute mix):

Hope you like the atmospheric breakdown build-up, and the pacing of the song structure. It's more of a radio edit length so not a marathon of a listen! In fact, this thread is probably longer...
must say i like the progression of the tune, nice bassline.. and like that sweepg "ghost fx". not really a fan though of how you slow the bassline in places. nice breakdown though maybe a bit to quiet when going down. but fucking love that arpeggio synth bringing it up again. must say man, top notch remix.
Thanks for the immediate response! Must say we're chuffed with the explosive arps! If we'd had time, we'd have worked on that build-up more but we had to make a deadline night decision to just bring in the kick.
We tried to make the breakdown strings pretty thin and quiet so that the arp supersaws had a more dramatic effect when they opened out. We were trying to compensate for how it would sound at club volume levels. The initial arps go a little low on the first bars, I notice it everytime!
Which part of the tune are you referring to about the slowing bassline? Is it before the first breakdown during the build-up, or maybe the end breakdown where the bassline continues over it for a while? We don't actually decrease the tempo at any point, but something may be making it seem to lag?
Thanks again for your comments :-)
good stuff, good beat, good bass, good break - like the ghosty fx used, maybe little overused.... Think bass may lose volume as you drop the notes, or maybe my speakers r crap
Like the arp in breakdown, for me need to scream more, maybe higher notes or another arp.... but depends on what kind of style u want i guess.
Very good though!! Definatly a pro sounding tune, maybe could return favour - wont be as good as this, but i try
