It seems that is normal, but I am confused on the plan. And being that this is for some friends that just got in from Russia, I can't be confused, or else they will be also. Is it a per minute charge outside of the network over and above that $1/day of actual usage?

Don't get a prepaid phone.

If you are traveling, a lot of places will rent phones.

Prepaid phones are for drug dealers and terrorists.

And annoying Asians who come in and buy six, then ask if they can buy four more, and then resell them at their shitstop and charge for activation even though the phone got activated when they bought it.

Stupid people deserve to pay activation.

although people may think prepaid phones are the not way to go, it may be cheaper for some people who don't use their cell phones much, and the price of a prepaid card is cheaper than a monthly bill? also, there are times when people have a really bad credit history, and their application for phone service gets denied, or have to have $300 to $400 deposit.

Or people that are here for 3 months and see no reason to get anything else.

One of the reasons I've heard why people do contract with monthly billing is so that they know what to expect per month.

One of my friends actually does pre-paid only for texting. It's probably cheaper, anyway.

Paying �30 by accident "wait your on O2...fuck!" and hour into a convo when you have no cross net minutes... pre pay can be good lol.


Or when abroad, always buy a sim when away.

Id go for a Sony Ericsson K800i, Nokia 6500 Slide or Classic, Samsung G600.
Each one has its Key Features ( better camera, price Etc ) but its the design and build quality that is also a deciding factor.
My Opinion is .......

Style = Samsungs
Camera/Music = Sony Ericsson
Balenced = Nokia or LG

I had a pre paid phone when I moved up here to have a NY number for job interviews.

You have to refill it monthly to keep it active and it was like 25 cents a minute or so.

I had AT&T go phone. Texts were like .05 or .10 cents.

My old d600? Samsung feels so much better that my newer sony.

Just more solid and with proper reliable buttons. Not spongy shitty ones. And it's nicer in your pocket, and key/coin resistant.

i have one but it's from verizon. I barely use my phone though but i think it's a better deal than the AT&T go phone shit. Because from the basic plan you choose from activation gives you free mins to anyone from 9 pm to 6 am. Texts are 10 cents each as well.

Yeah SE do suffer from poor build quality, in my experience the W580 and W910 are the most poorly built phones, we get so many returns with the same fault ( keys breaking and software issues ).
