MINITEK: September 12,13,14
New York gets an electronic music festival Minitek in mid-September, which will feature three days of techno with sets from Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Magda, Guy Gerber and many more.

New Yorkers love to say that anything you need, you can get in New York, but over the last few years one thing the city has lacked is a proper techno festival. Enter the Minimoo crew, whove been bringing top minimal/techno artists to the Big Apple, and who are planning two days and two nights of beats this summer.

The lineup so far is top notch: Richie Hawtin, Troy Pierce, Magda, Guy Gerber, Audion and Martin Buttrich are among the dozen or so DJs and live acts that have been confirmed. Stay tuned to RA for more additions as they emerge.

As always with Minimoo, the location is a bit of a secret at first, but those who have been to Minimoo parties in the past will know to expect the best in terms of location and vibe. And youll know that its going to go on way longer than advertised.

This is an I N S A N E lineup.......and for the price of a DEMF ticket....count me and the kitchener crew in!!!!!!!

SEE YOU THERE!!!!!!!

WOW, CONSIDERING THIS

Posted by Skipper on Jun-05-2008 21:15:

Pan-Pot is really the only act that I really want to see and haven't yet. Minimoo does great parties, but with this being in the US and the way they've cracked down on electronic events (esp in NYC), I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go to this even if I could get the time off.

Posted by magikb on Jun-05-2008 23:13:

I already got my ticket

I don't care how many times I have seen Richie, etc. I love NYC, I get to see Kelz and Cribby and I get to continue our fun. Plus it is outdoors (so rumour has it) and there is nothing like an outdoor party.

I can't wait. It gives me something to look forward to since it is the only holiday I am getting this year

That argument would be valid if this was being held in a club.

PM'ed you about it last week. It is a Minimoo event so the location will likely remain a secret until the event.

Tickets are purchased...

NYC is also doing a Sunday School for Degenerates over Labour Day weekend.

2 weeks of madness...

I guess, you don't really know for sure? US law enforcement has a funny way of doing what it wants to.

It's a secret location for more then one reason.

But how long will it stay a secret? It's a festival AND it's being promoted.

I'm not too worried though.

Not really. The city was being taken over 3-4 years ago because of all the murders and etc....because all the clubs are in this remote, factory-area....but since I moved here the scene has been absolutely fine. I mean, I personally dont LOVE the major clubs, but there are plaenty to go around and, more importantly, we get a TON of parties and talent each week. Always something to do, just (imo) shitty large clubs (ie: pacha....sucks.....) For techno/househeads/smaller clubs, this city is amazing.

Cribs, I wouldnt worry, people have a TON of great things to say about minimoo and its venue choices, so I am pretty comfortable with the promoters. I am sooo excited all you toronto kiddies are coming to my city!!

Let me know if anyone needs help with anything!

(also keep in mind that there are rumors about the venues being in Brooklyn, which makes sense for outdoors, so please keep that in mind when making arrangements....its FAR if you choose the wrong area to stay in!!)

PS. I am looking forward to meeting you.
