Obama vs McCain

Clinton is technically done so who are you guys going to vote for?

McCain's speech
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7RuX4pQPLY
Delivered to a few hundred supporters

compared to

Barack's speech
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xxa0ihsoiYI
Delivered to 32,000 supporters

McCains speech is like watching a comedy. The expressions on his face...priceless.

You put these two next to one another on a stage the differences will be even more glaring.

We gotta stop choosing our leaders based on their speeches and what we think they seem like based on the media. We already made that mistake with Bush, and look where it landed us. I put my choice for Barack, cos I'm voting for him, but I think he's the lowest common denominator as far as the choice is concerned...

Better than "sniper fire" clinton. I would've had to vote McSame if that tragedy happened.

To be fair, the media sure made Dubya look like an idiot in 2004

Well that's your opinion, and I disagree, but I will say both of them (Clinton and Obama) were, as I said before, the lowest common denominator of the choices... I think we had some of the best choices this year, and leave it up to Iowa to fuck it up. If people really wanted "change", they woulda voted Kucinich or Paul, but no, it's an American Idol day-in-age and that's what people have made this 2008 primary turn into, a beauty contest over who sings (makes speeches) better.

But, on any note, Obama for Pres. 2008! lol... Nothing more to say other than, I sure as hell do not want McCain in office.

What are you talking about?

I think you should look a little at the bigger picture and not just at your career plans, which I'm sure are not worth giving up just because of a new president. Come on, this is your passion, and you're not gonna fight for it because of some presumptive policy changes (that might not even happen, as most policy changes don't)? Either way I have no idea what you're talking about, so please explain.

Not only is it naive to expect that your life will be better under McCain, it's naive to expect that Obama's policies will be so influential as to somehow completely doom your future (?)

Posted by Stef on Jun-06-2008 14:37:

The only bad part about Obama is that if he were to get elected, we would see the largest secret service force for a president. Personally i just think it would be a hazard to elect Obama based on national security issues. However i can't wait to see the debates between him and McCain. If we judge solely by appearance this is going to be like the Kennedy, Nixon debates; Kennedy(Obama) comes off as cool, calm and collected while Nixon(McCain) is sweating and stuttering.

So you think our national security would be in jeopardy because of his policies or because he is of another ethnicity? Honestly if terrorists want to do something to us, they will find a way, no matter how much money we dump into our Homeland Security BS.

Yea I got that much

Please, as if the US is going to turn into Europe squared overnight -- if you have a passion you go for it, especially if it's one that you've been working on forever Sounds like Yan just realized that he doesn't really want to go to med school after all, which is fine, but it's beyond ridiculous to blame Obama for the decision No offense Yan.

I'm not really this excited about the election since my vote doesn't count. Thanks electoral college!

well it's only happened once that I can see your point.

Generally, I would blame the population of states since Electoral Colleges just nominate the president by Pop Vote.

It can count...... if you live in a state that votes in your favor. If you have a problem with the math then yeah you won't think your vote counts. I can only hope another thing like electoral winning the nomination over pop vote doesn't happen again.

But after living in Florida and casting my only vote in that state, I do think it's majorly important to vote. Do it vern.. Do it.

Has nothing to do with terrorists at all, i was implying that there are still a large amount of Americans who would not like to see Obama as president simply because of his race. Personally i no longer think the republican side is worth my vote(if i was of voting age) now that Romney is gone, so i currently support Barack. But i would not be surprised if there were a few poorly planned assassination attempts. Obama is a great candidate i just think that America is not ready for him yet.

Im tend to lean to the right these days, but my whole aprty sounds ridiculous when they say the economy is good, unemployment is low, inflation is low, they sound so out of touch, and Obama talks about change and new and blah blah blah, but his voting record is among the most liberal in the senate, he comes from the most corrupt political machine in the US, chicago politics, where he wentto bed with really bad guys in order to get elected, and now thats come back to haunt him. McCain is a good guy, steps across the aisle on a regular basis, but neither him nor Obama seem to be a visionary, they dont discuss whta they are going to do differently thats going to affect our pockets, bring down or at leats stabilize gas prices, and help out theregular JOE. Energy alternatives taht the public will see in a year or less is what people want, The left so they feel like "carbon heroes", and the right cause it stops padding the pcokets of those who want to kil us (Saudi arabia, iran), here is something we can all agree on, but no plans available. I ahte seeing the gretest country in the world look and feel so depressed-we need hope, someone to believe in-someone with a plan, but obama talks a good game, but nothing to back it up. If he steps into any debates with McCain, John will tear him and his in experience apart, Mcain offers nothing new, except the possibility of solving the immigration crisis. It would be nice if they ran a policy election-no personal attacks-but not sure tahts possible in 2008
well heres to hoping for some light at the end of the tunnel-God Bless america

Expect to be lied to like you've been lied to in the past 8 years. The Republicans have never been less known to acknowledge their faults even before Bush
quote:

Would you, along with everyone else out in the blogosphere, like to point out exactly what the fuck you're talking about? I've been hearing this from Hillary people for 2-3 months now and it's complete bullshit, especially if you were supporting Hillary, since their voting records have been pretty much identical.

quote:
he comes from the most corrupt political machine in the US, chicago politics, where he wentto bed with really bad guys in order to get elected, and now thats come back to haunt him.

Like who, Tony Rezko? Or are you talking about bullshit associations like William Ayers, people who aren't associates, but sat on boards with him, etc. I suppose that all of Ayers' students, since he's a college prof, would be unfit to be President as well?

quote:
McCain is a good guy, steps across the aisle on a regular basis

A lot less so in the past 8 years. The transformation of John McCain since 2000 has resulted in a pandering, more hawkish individual simply because he had to pick up W's voters that defeated him in 2000. He's not the same person.

quote:

You've got to be kidding. There are no worthwhile energy alternatives that will result in progress within a year. Do you think that this is just research and development that someone's been keeping locked up in a warehouse? This is the problem with this country - we're too impatient. Disregarding all moral issues with the war, it's the same reason that we shouldn't have gotten involved in Iraq. It's always the "get rick quick" and "short-term solutions" ideas that usually set us back rather than move us forward. We're not willing to invest in anything if we can't see results in 6 months and that's just idiotic.

The problem is that when we were dumping money into "defense" programs so that we could go on offensive wars, we've spent a minute fraction on alternative energy projects. When you don't have funds to pay researchers and scientists or to pay for equipment, you don't get results. Even in the 90s there were electric car prototypes and solar panels (on homes and cars), but they were prohibitively expensive or not as functional as needed because finding cheaper, more efficient methods wasn't affordable for the inventors.

quote:
If he steps into any debates with McCain, John will tear him and his in experience apart

I'll believe this when I see it. McCain admits that he doesn't know economics very well and his main "strength," war isn't going so well in the eyes of the people.

quote:

I'm sure these will be coming from Obama's people. He didn't use them to get rid of Hillary and the Republicans have been using the "Obama's a Muslim" and "Barack Hussein Obama" cards all along.
