Legaliy of Mashups

I have been interested in mashups for a while now as I find them a nice change in DJ mixes. However, I am not sure about the legality of their distribution.

I've tried looking online, but it seems to be a fine line between legal and illegal.

As long as they're for your personal use. Distribution without permission is a no-no.
