Talking Alex Chilcott - 5 Dynasties, 10 Kingdoms

Hey guys!

Haven't been around for AGES, mostly cause of uni finals, which, as of thursday, have finished! And consequently, i finally got a chance to sit down with some of the ideas that have been running through my head for the past 3 months and actually do some work on one of them; 5 Dynasties, 10 Kingdoms is the result of this weekends work Hope you guys like it, I'm pretty happy with it, just going to do a few tweaks at some point this week (i made it on my laptop, so a couple of mixing tweaks are probably needed, tho i think its mostly alright) then send it off to labels some time.

Hope you enjoy it, comments and crits appreciated and reciprocated

Alex

not bad, though some of those sidesynths that are not playing the main melody are a bit too sharp... hi's are mixed a bit high, overal it's a good start

Nice track with some great potential for sure, but as stated does definately have some mix issues. The bottom end has been lost and it's swimming in high ferquencies. But in terms of tune it's really good.

Cheers

Really great melodies. I can definately see this released. However the mix needs alot more than just a few tweaks. I suggest you take a few days (or even a week!) break from it, to clear your head. Just don't rush the mixing process, because this has the pontential to be massive.

Its been such a long time since I heard a trance track with a melody Seriously though, its a great track, very messy mix, I'd actually rebuild it completely I think, since some of those synths aren't great, but the ideas are great, which is what counts in my opinion. The nice thing about it is that its got a really clerly defined structure, so you would be able to remix it really easily. Definately deserves a release in my opinion.

Hey guys, thanks very much for the replies!

As for the mixing issues, I 100% agree that there are some problems with it, I made this track on my laptop and so have not had a chance to work on it yet on my main computer, so ive been working off fairly cheap ear phones and the stock soundcard. I'm taking some time off right now (uni finals over, so party time is right now lol) but will definately be sure to post updated versions as and when they become available, but thanks very much for the encouragement, really glad u guys like it!

As mentioned before, this track was made in a space of about 15 hours over two days. We all know how the track can become kinda stale if ur working on it that frequently, so when i come back to it in probably about two weeks (after I graduate - WOOOOOO!) I should be able to polish these issues up in no time. Will be very sure to take the particular issues you guys have given me on board, and thanks for the encouragement, cause it really means a lot to me right now!
