Tiesto in San Diego
First time I have been to a Tiesto event and left disappointed.
He played at Wavehouse for maybe 1:40 min... SDPD held the event while they cleared out the beach side boardwalk.. This took like 30-40 mins.
Tiesto played really good at the Wavehouse, he was happy and into the crowd. Just didn't get to play for that long.
4th & B - He came on around 12:20ish.. Ended at 2:30, kind of just put his hand up and left. The music died for a couple of minutes, as I don't think anyone was expecting him to leave so soon! Overall the set was ok, Vanguard was definately a better set. The sound in 4th & B was kinda weak, not tuned up or anything special.
Also, the DJ playing right before Tiesto was the same at both events. This guy played the same exact set, track for track at both events. On top of that, let's just say my cat can put together some better music.
Overall it seems as if our boy Tiesto is not at the same level he was during the Elements of Life tour, which rocked!
That's all the typing my brain will allow for now.
wow.. my gf and roommate were beating themselves up for not being able to go to either one, but I guess this might be some sort of consolation. $65 for 2hrs of tiesto.. I'd be upset at that alone!
I was on the beach for the whole thing and got there around the time Victor was playing. Victor's set was nice and seemed to fit the mood of just hanging out. Missed Scott Robert's opening set unfortunately (since he was scheduled).
I have to say... I was really surprised at the sound he started with at the Wavehouse. Dropping a lot of "vibey" house (not even just like beach vibe or themed tracklisting, but more just background music), although I was pleasantly surprised to hear the Steve Angello & Laidback Luke "Be" mashup using the Instrumental Mix (for a long break), House of Jack accapella, and the Original vocal bootleg at the end. Didn't expect it at all. Even my buddy commented on how "housey" the set was. I guess Tijs lived up to what he claimed himself, "I'm a house DJ, always have been, I just happen to spin what people call trance, but to me its all house anyways"
A while into Tiesto's slot the venue got a notice from SDPD to clear the boardwalk. Nearly 45 mins go by with no music and just dead silence as people tried to get back to the beach wall, which amazed me yet again that San Diegans can't get the idea.
When Tiesto did come back he opened it with a fury of good trance tracks, and kept the outdoor vibe alive all the way to nearly 9:15 (well after his scheduled time of 8). Some notable tracks for me included the following: Lethal Industry (Richard Durrand Remix) [I actually had spun it in my room earlier that day...lol]; Love Comes Again [Who can't like this track... =0)]; Deadmauy5's "Not Exactly" pitched up to hell [seriously must have been at like +4-6% to make it 134-136 bpm LOL]; and his closing track of Fonzerelli "Moonlight Party" [God I love this one too!]; his "encore" track was "In The Dark" [definitely a sing-a-long pop track... LOL]
I didn't go to 4th & B and wound up hanging out at another night my friend's were throwing to show support. I'll make this note on 4th & B though. If Tiesto played until 2:30 than he did play past there normal closing time, as the venue does not have an afterhours license to operate. This would explain why he may have felt more or less abbreviated at the venue.
I will say this, kudos to the beach crew for keeping it controlled. The cops kept patrolling and making laps by the wall, and it could easily have gotten out of control, but it didn't, and that's a great thing. As well, kudos to the beach crew for rocking to the music. From the beach the venue looked so dead inside as a whole it was pathetic. Outdoors ftw! The price for my ticket absolutely rocked. =0)

Tiesto look-a-like? ![]()
Oh and when will DJ Missy kitty start playing?
I wet to the Wavehouse and I had a BLAST!!!!!I had plenty of room to dance, hang out, and socialize. There was no rude people pushing, no washing mashines, no rudeness. At least not where I was at. Actually, everyone around me was really friendly. Lol...
So I got there around 4pm, Victor was playing and the line was huge! I said fuck it, so my friend and I went to eat and walk around. I guess his manager did gave me the correct time, and Tiesto wasn't coming until around 7pm. We had plenty of time to kill.
We got back, no line, and Bam!!! They wouldn't let my friend in. Her ID Expired, so they asked for another form of ID, we showed them her green card and they said they couldn't accept it. So then we took out her mexican passport and they said they couldn't accept it either!!! ggggrrrrrrr... We were mad. I asked to speak to the manager, and he said the same thing. My friend is a diehard Tiesto fan, so she got really sad.
We went to the boardwalk, and noticed that you can see the stage and hear the music from there. So we stayed there for the reminder of Victors set and sadly enough, we also stayed for the horrible opener. I swear that DJ sucked ass big time!!! I never talk shit on DJ's, but this one really sucked ass big time. Everyone around us kept talking shit!!!! Victor should've been the only opener.
Anyhow, more people started getting there and the boardwalk got packed like crazy!!! There was people with kids, people with dogs, it was awesome. The vibe there was pretty cool actually. I ran into St Michael there.
My friend called her boyfriend to come over and hang out with her so that I can go in. So I knew I had an extra ticket and didn't knew what to do with it. I saw this girl next to us who kept dancing to Victor's set, and she looked like she really wanted to go in. I asked her "Hey, do you wanna go in?" She made this sad face, and said "YES." So I took out my extra ticket and told her "here you go, have fun." All of the sudden her sad face disappeared and she became the happiest girl in the entire boardwalk. She immediately ran to get inside.
Anyhow, so my friends boyfriend finally shows up, I go in, and I see a lot of my friends. But they didn't wanted to go to the center cuz it was a madhouse there. Plus, were we were it was perfect. It was right infront of the speakers, on the right side of the stage. There was plenty of room there.
I met a couple of people there. I was hanging out with some girl the time. She was really cool and had awesome personality. I think that made my Tiesto experience better. She asked if she could borrow my camera to take pix, I said yea! So she goes around taking pix of random people and some hot girls. And when she came back, she goes, "HERE, I TOOK SOME AWESOME PIX FOR YOU." Gave me my camera back, I look, and WOW!!! There was pix of girls flashing!!!!!
That was AWESOME!!!!
Than I ran into Lety, Victor, St Michael, Michelle, Greg, and a few other friends which made the whole experience a lot better.
Honestly, this show was fucken awesome!!! I really like it and I danced non stop the whole time. I actually enjoyed his entire set and I can say it has been one if not my most enjoyable tiesto show ever. It's rare when there's so much room to dance on a Tiesto show.

Tiesto's music selection was great. We were rocking on the Sea Wall.
The whole Police thing was stupid. I was sitting on the Sea Wall right in front of the Wavehouse sign since 3 PM and the Police showed up around 5 PM and never indicated that we needed to move to the beach. Since we were sitting on the Sea Wall we are immune to it all. As soon as it was coming time for Tiesto to play the Police tried to shut it down and started pushing people around. NO ONE was drunk or causing problems. 3 guys still got arrested and 5 people got fined for smoking.
The cops actually fired everyone up on the beach. Since most people were inside drinking since 3 PM no wonder the crowd wasn't as fired up as the beach crowd.
It was so funny about the 4WD Cop Truck trying to get in the way of us dancing. The cops figured out they were just firing us even more so they quit.
Tiesto on the beach for free, what can be better?

Wavehouse was pretty fun.. I definately had a great time there. Cool people and the whole area was pretty cool.. I got there about the same time as Woody, but we went in. The line was super long, but some guy came around scanning the Tiesto Tickets, and he let us right in.. We only waited like 10 Mins.

Nice pics there guys! I wish I was still in San Diego, this gets me more excited for Tiesto this summer here in Italy. Awesome Videos too by they way!
Sorry if there was someone between Victor and Tiesto... like I said, I couldn't see (not that I really had to for MUSIC anyways) since I was on the beach itself.
I know it wasn't Scott Roberts. Scott's a much better DJ than the guy I heard spin between the two(meaning Victor and Tijs). I wasn't overly impressed with Victor's set, but I thought it was fine. It was just weird. Like I said though the only thing I liked was the mashup of Steve Angello & Laidback Luke's "Be" with the "House of Jack" accepella.
Good times though.

Lol, what was up with that chick on stage towards the end of that clip?
lol somehow she managed to get on stage, and they kicked her out.

I was at Vangard Friday night and thought that set was pretty good but the Wavehouse party was hands down the best party I've been to all year.....it was just plain Awesome!
looks kinda of fun for a bunch of P.B jocks. honestly, I don't see why people rave about tiesto. in my opinion hes a better showman than a dj
Greg and I drove down to SD early Saturday. Settled in our hotel room and went to the Wave House. We did not get tickets in time since they where all ready sold out. But if there is a will there is a way, and we would have heard Tiesto on the beach if we had too.
We talked to right person and after getting a quick bite to eat got a phone call and where able to get in.
Went to the guard rail for a good spot Saw Scott and was able to get in and dance in the best seat of the place!!! YES!!!
The Vibe and venue of the Wave house reminded of me of Miami. Caught most of Victors set and it was Great. The Dj After him was SERGO!!! Imo Victor should have gotten an extra hour! This guy was Bad.. wait he plain SUCKED!!!!
Right before Tiesto got on the SD Po-Po made them turn the music completely off to move people off the board walk. It seemed like that took forever. Once Tiesto got to start the place took off!
All though Tiesto's set was short it was Awesome! I loved it!!! Since I had room to dance, I danced my ass off. At 9pm the party was over, so Greg and I went back to the room got ready and went to 4th and B.
Cowboy Mike was on the the place was going OFF! Hands in the air people jumping up and down and cheering. Then that SERGO guy came on again. He KILLED the party!!! Every one stopped dancing. No hands in the air, NOTHING!! Not even his crappy chicken neck move and "oh look at me I am bad ass" move could not bring the people back. Instead of cheering people where screaming to get off the stage, or Stop I am dead all ready and I even heard some Boos!!! Everyone wanted Tiesto. He got on the mic and said it would be 10-15 more minutes and that was the longest 10-15 minutes ever!!!! SERGO sucked SO BAD!!! He is by far the worst opener and worst Dj I heard EVER!!!!
Finally Tiesto comes in to this dead Party I felt bad for him. An opener should get the party started.. not kill it to the point of no return.
I was pretty close to the front and payed the consequences for my spot. But there was no way I was going to Move!!! People where pushing threw like there where not 50 other people in front of them. UGH!!!
I loved what Tiesto played.. but the crowd and the vibe not so much. I made a heart for the night that he loved!
I got a wave and he made sure that the person taking pictures got the heart in it! YES!!!
I went for a pee break and Tieso started packed up his headphones wave a few times and walked away. I thought it was 3:30-4. I looked at Gregs phone and it was only 2:30!!! WTF!!! Greg told me later that some asshole threw something at Tiesto and that is why he left!!!
I do not know why people do that!! That shows no respect!!!
Anyways since it was only 2:30 and that is when I get started Greg and I went to this cool after hours at 3. Was there till about 6am when the Po-Po showed up to shut it off! And went to after-after hours!
A crazy fun weekend for Sure!!!

Seeing Tiesto drop this track alone would have been worth the 212312 dollars they were charging. I remember when I first heard Tiesto drop that track, i was blown away. He dropped it right around sunrise, at a open air after party at last years WMC. |

I don't post on here very much, but I thought I would share a little inside information for everyone. I can't say too much as I might get someone in trouble, but I can say a few things that were interesting.
Tiesto's management was being pretty lame the entire time. All the DJ's had to submit a tracklist of songs they were going to play, and were instructed not to deviate from that list. Not cool in my opinion.
I also know that there were some back stage things that happened at the wavehouse which upset Tiesto. That, along with someone throwing something at him, caused him to leave his set early.
Again, in my opinion, if you're getting paid the money that Tiesto is getting paid, you should play all the way through your time, if not more, and even if someone throws something at you, shrug it off and let the security deal with that person.
Tiesto's set at 4th and B was very disappointing. There was no energy to the set, and just lacked the pizazz that his wavehouse set had. I can't say for sure, but I think what happened at the wavehouse backstage affected his performance, which, again, isn't cool. I feel bad for those that just went the 4th and B as the wavehouse was much better.
Sergo was terrible, and again, that was a Tiesto Management request. That makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever, unless you think that throwing a HORRIBLE DJ on in front of Tiesto makes him look better (as if he needs that). The only other thing I can think is that Sergo paid for the spot by helping with the booking fee. Otherwise, it was completely inexplicable as to why that idiot saw the stage at all, let alone twice!!!
I was on the beach during the wavehouse set, as I didn't get tickets in time, but the crowd outside was great, and they did everything the SDPD asked them to do. I don't get the po po, as they circled in a car around the crowd during Tiesto's set, it was like they were trying to instigate something. I just don't understand that thinking. In fact, they only pulled one person out of the crowd, and he was REALLY wasted, but to put 6 police officers, 2 Tahoe's, the police Helicopter & stop the music all for 1 arrest, that seems excessive to me. Still, outside the vibe was great with people dancing on the beach. It was a great experience.
My last complaint was my own fault, I didn't get tickets in time for 4th and B so my girlfriend and I had to buy tickets at the door, and they were $100 a piece. But what can you do when your girlfriend already has a nice buzz going and wants to party, you suck it up and take it in the wallet. Still, that was not a $200 party by any means.
well I for one knew it would be madness and I decided to not go, but based on the reviews, I'm glad you guys had a good time if you did, and I personally am so sorry that SD would be represented in such a way by a resident dj. But that does make you wonder who, and why they'd make those selections.
Really sucks about the early close out at 4thnB too because I know i've been there till 4 before...
where were the flashing pics Woody?!
