[Group C] Netherlands - Italy

The first BIG match! Clearly the one people are most looking forward to, from this first round of the group stage. Both teams come from am half-assed qualifying stage, as neither won their group (by coincidence to Romania and France, who they will need to face again now in the final stage) - but both are considered as top class sides.

Italy are the current world champions but are lacking important players such as Totti and the centre-backs duo of Cannavaro and Nesta, while Netherlands (Holland) has a weird problem with scoring goals, since they have tons of good offensive players but cannot give good use to them.

Netherlands should attack more tomorrow - dunno if that will translate into more goals than their opponent.

2-0

italy won their qualification group.

I'm not going to try and call this one, but holland were very wasteful against wales in their last game and if they continue like that then they will find it difficult in such a tight group.

Although I'd love to see Italy losing... I must agree with you.

I predict a cagey game- neither team wants to lose it. This group will be decided on very narrow margins, unless Romania pull off a surprise and beat one of the big three, who will then have to try and force a win in another game. I can see it being 1-0, but I can't call who will get it.

I think I might get up for this one. Will either be a stunningly good game or a boring piece of shit, total close down game. Hopefully the first one.

It'll probably RVN up front but i'm curious to see how Huntelaar will be doing if he were toget some minutes. I'ld like to see him start in a way but realistically you should go for RVN.

it's always the same with the Netherlands. Always we play very nice, great combinations etc. But at the end we lose.

So I think Italy is gonna play like a lame ass camper (a camper like in counterstrike etc ) and we attack like a chicken without a head . And at the end it's 2-0 for italy

(but I hope we finally gonna WIN with our great gameplay...)

Posted by The_G0dfather on Jun-09-2008 14:42:

Absolutely right. But personally i prefer them playing the way they do and not winning the EC over campers that do win it at the end.

0-2

Great game so far, hopefully it'll only get better.

Finally some decent football.

AHHAHAHAAHAH YES!!!!!!

First goal was clearly offside...

The second was beautiful.

Whoa, Italy is getting pwned pretty hard. Not that I have any compassion for them, especially since the Dutch are playing brilliantly.

No.

That was absolutely crystal clear. I don't know what the linesman was smoking.

There was a italian player laying down on the ground, but outside of the field, therefore he doesn't count.
