The Official 2008 Tour De France Thread..

Well since we go on about European football its only fair to have a thread for the Worlds biggest annual sporting event.

Cadel Evans is currently third in the Dauphine which is pretty much the tours warm up event.

If you are interested this place is pretty much the net bible of the world of cycling. www.cyclingnews.com Everyone climb aboard the Cadel express for the tour its leaving early next month.

not to be rude but am i the only one who finds this more boring to watch than PKC trying to hit on 12 year olds over MSN?

"biggest annual sporting event" - how does one measure that statistic and come up with the tour de france? (I know the FA cup and the superbowl get more viewers.)

and yeah, find it fucking boring and it always seems to be on.

the relative "awesomeness" of bike riding went downhill once someone created the combustion engine.

The relative awesomeness of you degrades with every one of your keystrokes.

some of the best drug users around

I know not all use drugs (or use drugs that can be currently detected), but its a pretty sad sport when it is synonymised with drug use.

Can't wait.

Don't write Mick Rogers off either!

Soler is my dark horse.

Good to see Cadel has Popovych to help him out as well!

Does anyone else think that you could easily replace the word "sport" with the phrase "music scene" to form a stereotypical statement about dance music from a concerned parent/politician/priest?

Yep.

Unfortunately -

Australia's Michael Rogers will miss this year's Tour de France, as he slowly returns to racing after suffering from the Epstein Barr virus. Roger's Team High Road, which will ride the Tour as Team Columbia, will be missing two of its biggest stars. The revelation Rogers won't have recovered in time for the French race by team Sport Director Rolf Aldag follows the news that Linus Gerdemann's knee problems will also prevent him from riding.

On a happier note Robbie McEwen along with Cadel's second place in the Dauphine, is riding into some top form with 2 wins on the trot in the Tour Of Switzerland.

Rogers has fucking shingles? That sucks...

fucken awesome! Great idea for creating this thread. All you people who don't enjoy it, stop whinging and post somewhere else. I really hope cadel can pull it off this year and be the first aussie ever to win the tour. that would be absolutely massive.
