Me too. If he's gonna keep cruising along making 3 or 4 remixes a month he has to keep the elements fresh an unique. Really liking Dead Souls remix for that reason...weird melody.

yeah i know, its the usual repetitve RS style, but i just cant stop listening to it, so simple yet so effective

Posted by RJT on Jun-13-2008 16:04:

It's only effective if you think looping the same 8 beats for 11 minutes is effective.

Easily the worst of all the bog-standard Radio Slave mixes. Complete shit.

Posted by Az on Jun-13-2008 16:05:

both the hablando mixes are easily the shittest thing he's ever done
they don't have the best bit!
elektrochemie mix all the way

well i guess effective is subjective

It works... I use it while transitioning to harder stuff.. Dont usually play it all the way though. I try to mix out of it as soon as i have beatmatched the next song and found the spot i want to mix it in from.

boring

i would rather hear 1 awesome track from him a month then 5 decent ones.

agree, pretty badass techno if you bump up the BPM's on it a bit and layer a dark vocal acappella overtop of it....you can use a lot of RS remixes like tools....dark peak hour tune IMO.

Posted by Clovis on Jun-14-2008 06:05:

Theres just a lot of better tracks to play.

Wouldn't it be easier to just play a good track?

I do that to, but on occasion, I usually like to play a record most DJ's won't touch or play and add my own twist to it for a challenge. One of the things a good DJ can do, is take a shitty record and make it sound awesome. I guess all in opinion, but I like to fool around a bit.

hey

Well I'd love to hear what it is those of you talking about "doing something" with this track is that makes it quality - because on it's own it's a giant piece of garbage.

It's not even an interesting "DJ tool."

Posted by Clovis on Jun-14-2008 19:58:

If you play a really good track over most of it, it sounds like the good track!

Like I said in a different thread, I picked this up because I felt I could use it, which I did, and it wound up putting me to sleep.

The only thing that gives it any sense of development are its two (?) breaks, but even that has all the functional effect of an optical illusion.

Maybe if he trimmed things down by several minutes, I would be somewhat more hesitant to assign this as one of the most boring tracks of the year.

Until then, this is one of the most boring tracks of the year.

I don't think there's anything to necessarily dislike about this track, so I wouldn't at all be inclined to call it garbage.

When I decided to pick it up, I felt it had all the right elements that fit the bill I was looking for, which was a steadily moving, percussion dominated track that would provide a useful foundation for more interesting things to come. So although it doesn't fare off particularly well as a stand-alone production, I felt it would prove contextually meaningful and useful- though I don't at all suggest that this somehow elevates its inherent level of quality to a whole new level.

The problem I noticed in using it this way is that I don't have much material that's quite as sparse and uneventful as this, so it stands out as some awkwardly placed section of heavy drums and light background effects...so it doesn't even work in the way I had hoped.

If I do play it, I don't at all let it run its course, fading out of it after the last break.
