Memorizing trance

The hardest part about trance is memorizing it (at least for me). You don't have any lyrics to go by, there are tons of producers out there and tons of remixes of songs. Is there a quicker way to memorize songs than just playing them for hours at a time?

Why would you wanna memorize em in the first place? If you like a track, you'll remember it.

The reason why so many tracks are hard to memorize is due to the fact so many of them sound the same, making it difficult to differentiate them individually.

"What's your favorite trance song?"
"You know that one with the breakdown after a couple minutes and has that soft melody played in a minor key that explodes into a these super-sawwave synth builds? That one's good."

if you like it, you'll remember it (as said before).

it's "easiest," i guess, if you pay attention to the structure of each song. usually after a said amount of beats a new sound/etc will be introduced or taken away from the song...

One reason why you'd want to 'memorize' it is to know the track structure so you know when you would want to mix into or out of the track.

I've found that I remember tracks that I listen to over and over, but those tend to be the ones that I really like. As Sykonee said, a lot of trance sounds the same, but the ones that I end up liking have good melodies that stand out.

I usually put the tracks that I like on a random playlist to learn and remember them.

good ideas in there

I prefer mixing trance/electronica over top40 xONEMILLION but womg top40 songs were never this hard to remember. With electronica you usually can't be in Serato and start searching for that song that has that awesome buildup and the woman saying something in a foreign language in the background. Search: ?????????

I'm starting to see why a lot of people make track lists pre-show, all you can do with trance is spend the time to listen to it constantly
