Live to eat or eat to live? What's your take?

So, I stumbled upon a really interesting conversation on a fitness forum and I wanted to find out what you jolly lot prefer? Do you eat for pleasure or do you eat to fuel your body? Interesting how some people note that after a while, eating healthy becomes a habit and you start to derive pleasure from foods that you didn't enjoy before... and those foods are healthier for you.

I'm trying to get lean for the beach and started shaving back those extra calories... however, one thing I can't see myself kicking is delicious, frosty, foamy ambrosia called BEEEEEEEER. Ummmm beeer.

So, anyway. What's your nutritional philosophy?

Take advantage of juvenile metabolism while I can, that's my aim.

I had KFC at 5am today.

I started eating healthy when I learned to cook, and that's also when I really started appreciating food. When you cook for yourself you can always use raw and unprocessed ingredients. You know exactly what goes into your food and that gives you absolute control over your diet.

Your change in signature is actually very funny after reading the first half alone for the past 12 months or so.

I'm starting to get a gut.

I used to eat to live. But after looking a 3 month period of my spending habits i just noticed that i was spending around $1000 per month on just food. Not including bars and clubs. Just dining out.

Now i quit that. I now eat to live.

lol, i did the same thing. now i've noticed that its slowing down...sucks.

when i first read the title, i was a little confused...i thought the options were "live to eat" as in being a sloth; glutton; or 2) "eat to live" as in like a cannablistic environment, would you eat someon to stay alive.

thank God that's not what we're talking about.

i've recently decided that food should be simply for fuel/substanance...and that eating just for the sake of eating/pleasure shouldn't really be done...or at least, not all the time. sure a snack is all right now and then...but not everyday.

Eating food for pleasure ALL the time?

No.

Eating food for fuel ALL the time?

No.

Is it that hard to balance it?

No.

I feel sorry for people that can't go and enjoy a good meal, because it's "oooooo, too many calories" or something similar. I can't imagine going through my life with that mindset.

No worse than the mindset that good food can't be healthy food. Unless of course you have the taste of an 8 year old and your idea of good food is a big mac.
