Choir VST

Hey all, i'm new to these forums so forgive me if i've posted this in the wrong place. Anyway...i've recently started to produce after a life of only Dj'ing. I know my way around my DAW now and have started to get the hang of things. I love uplifting/melodic trance and was wondering if anyone knew where i could obtain a Vst with good choir pads? Or even just really nice, warm string pads for that matter. I acquired "Nexus" not so long ago but I hear from friends that it's not as good as it's made out to be. I probaly sound like a complete idiot to most of you but Any help at all would be appreciated. Cheers.

I have absynth as well, its huge though and its hard to find a particular one you like. Is there any presets i should search for within it?

theres a few presets in the factory bank

Also, look in your absynth installation folder there are plenty of other banks included.

Its hard to make good sounding choirs with VA synths, best bet is soundtable wave + unison + pitch lfo and some filtering, but then again its hard to get good choirs.

Absynth is also very good for strings, plenty are included in the preset, just load them, listen, tweak, listen and see what you can change and how you can make the ''string'' sound yourself

Spectrasonics Atmosphere is THE pad machine and it has a few good choir pads.

If you're really serious about choir VSTs, check out East West Quantum Leap's Symphonic Choirs - not cheap (~$535 USD), but it is the best and even has Word Builder, which allows you to tell the singers what words to sing and how to articulate and phrase them.

Also, check out Syntheway's Magnus Choir for a cheaper ($40) choir alternative with just 'aahs' and 'oohs'.

Hey, i found some usefull choir sounds beneath the linplug octopus presets (for example the 'smooth voices preset')... though they don't sound to realistic but work great as background strings

magnus is one of my workhorse trance vsti's

of course it's not going to make you a pad that you like all by itself, but layered with other pad sounds, it's fantastic, it can add a bit of "humanity" to your pads... any synth from minimoog v to absynth 4 can make warm pad sounds, it's just a matter of personal preference...

i also suggest that you spend some time learning to create pad sounds in a relatively simple synth (ie v-station or pro-53). while there's nothing wrong with using presets designed by audio geniuses from all over the world, it's nice to craft your own sounds or edit the presets to give you exactly what you want.
