"Dream/Mellow" Trance from 1998ish

Hi Guys,

Before heading in to the world of Hard House I used to play at a club in Bournemouth (UK) called The Manor and was lucky enough to play alongside such legends as Sasha, Paul Van Dyk, Digweed, Oakenfold...

The club has been closed for 9 years and I sold a lot of my old trance (wish I hadn't now!!!)... but I did a Re-Union party at the weekend and it went down a storm!!

I'm trying to remember some of the "dream/mellow" trance that I used to play back then but my mind is a little blurred.. :0)

Here is what I have remembered, but I'd like some suggestions as to others from this era that I may be missing:

Ayla - Ayla
Red Light District - Did You Hear Me?
BBE - 7 Days & 1 Week
DJ Sakim & Friends - Protect Your Mind

You can see the kind of thing I am after... Hopefully you can help me track down some others that would've been BIG back in 1997-999

Many thanks

Jon

Such as this from 1997:

Amazing tune. What the other guys said though. If you were Djing in that period you probably know better so my advice is...try to remember! (i hope they were not many drugs involved lol).

You should check out the Trancemaster CDs from that years. They contain alot of that kind of stuff. I especially recommend volume 18. That one is one the most memorable in the collection.

Also here is another olden goodie:

Great track in the last YouTube video.

LN Movement - Golden Desert Pt. 2. A little later than '98 I think, but still a good one.

Even though this is not the original version but a newer vocal mix, it's still IMO a perfect "dreamy, mellow" trance track. At .13 when the melody comes in, it's got an eerie quality to it. Ever since I heard it on Oakenfold's "GU: New York" CD...it's been one of my favorite tracks.

Look at the tracklist for the first 4 or 5 of the "In search of sunrise" collection by Tiesto.

Humate - Love Stimulation

Many thanks everyone for your suggestions, (especially Illussion7 who was right on track... thanks!) I'll look up some of the Albums mentioned too to try and jog my memory!

The obvious ones come to my mind quite quickly, but it some of the imports that I picked up back then that don't come so easily..

Thanks again... :0)

Tastexperience ft Natasha Pearl - Summersault...but what I had in mind was more the original mix, with the operatic vocals, not this vocal mix. The original, non-vocal version was taken off of YT.

Another one from Tastexperience (though newer than Summersault) called Trantrix.

Salt Tank, Chicane and Tastexperience created a lot of tracks back in the day that would really be considered "dreamy, mellow" trance with chill out type tracks mixed in.

Chicane - Sunstroke (Disco Citizens Nix)

Posted by kraetzja on Jun-19-2008 20:37:

Chicane - Saltwater
??? - Chase the sun
