:P that song hits me in such the way... we all have that inside us, its just different... like how crazy i go to doppler effect - beauty hides in the deep (john o callagan remix)... Denham played that for me at elements earth... he knew how that song touches me... same sorta story, its a personal thing with the music and yourself.... but thanks dane lol

to tell ya the trouth... i dont like trance that much these days... it fkn rocked in the 90s... i was just too bloody young!!! wish i could go back to those days now!

lol, silly cunt didn't even know which song he'd requested.

Posted by vman83 on Jun-17-2008 08:10:

Marak will be the next Soups

Posted by DJ Marak on Jun-17-2008 14:55:

aaahhhhh lol

soz dman... i am shamed gotta give me some sort of brake... elements eart was a bloody long time ago! lol but the point is, the effects of the songs are the same essentially

i bloody hope im not turning into the next soups ha ha ha ha

jolz, i still cant listen to hardstyle for too long... but the hard TRANCE is different... thats why i loved sensation black so much because of the energy and speed that (the following night) white couldnt make me dance or move.... ive had this feeling for quite some time.... trance isnt the same... as music and sound evolves, as the years go by, it all changes.... and i loved the productions from around the mid 90s and late 90s.... when has there been a song like "running" by dj marc auriel? (think thats how ya spell his name right) or "follow me" by Lange???? THATS just the tip of the iceburg on what im trying to explain about how those days were the best! just off the fly, those 2 songs were very influential to me back in the day and honestly.... not all that much comes close to those emotions in the songs these days....

we all know exa-cist and artemis, BJ and so on.... the "Play" parties that BJ has thrown has totaly blown me away with the energy and just how much it makes me smile SIMPLY COS OF THE MUSIC, you all know me, and yas all know how i smile when the music forces me!

the 2 play events i whent to were simply amazing! THAT energy and speed is what i guess im refining and defining my passion to/is.... yoshi (pretty sure that was his name!!!!) from Sydney played a live set i think, and so did NFX.... i really liked those two guys, they made me dance bloody hard...

thats the sort of energy i want to give when i fianly play for people one day... to make them happy and smile like they had made me smile

i mean, trance is still trance.... but the faster, harder, almost happy hardcore trance hybrid kinda genre ya could call it... i dont bloody know what the sub-genre is (and it shits me in a way how many thousands of sub-genres there are).... but thats what im looking for...

Posted by dan_essential on Jun-17-2008 16:00:

Marak you definatly know how to express a point! Awesome how you just say how it is. I remember listening to Marino Stephano, Plastic Angel, Elevate, Tom Stephens, Nebula, Merellio, Dragonstar fuk heapsssss, from roughly 10 years ago and don't hear that sound much anymore. I'm def not as old as you, but I heard the sounds of post 1997 frequently and loved it!

Till We Meet Again Marakkkkz!..hehe

Have you heard any freeform? Its like a cross between happy hardcore and hard trance, its not as cheesy as happy hardcore but faster than hard trance.

Listen to DJ's like, Kevin Energy, Guld, AMS, The Arkitect, Ephexis, Proteus, Kutski (sometimes), John Doe and Nu Energy Collective.

I still love PVD of old, that Romentags Rave 2001? when he finishes with Jose Amnesia - The Eternal = EPIC

Yeah I felt like that over 6 months ago. Trance just does not seem to deliver anymore (to me anyway). The genre of that sound just does not seem to evolve at all. Mang if you like 'trance' you can't go past the divesity of psy in all formats. It's the shit!!

Posted by Fpcookie on Jun-18-2008 01:24:

tech trance is where all the good shit has been for at least the last 2 years. psy goes alright too

there is still some good shit in the classic trance sound (uplifting/melodic) but it is pretty rare and most of it all sounds the same now.

Posted by DJ Marak on Jun-18-2008 01:29:

ok first off, i appologise if this post isnt quite making much sence... its late and im a bit pissed....

psy is cool... simple lol benny, denham and the guys have shown me psy and OOOHHH boy has chwen made me fall inlove with it in the way he closed at one of the interview parties... dreemy, gliding feeling floating psy sounds as the sun was creeping through the scarce brakes in the blinds... amazing

proteus rings a bell, i can see his face in my mind, quite interesting guy thats for sure, thanks taubs, ill search those names for sure!

Dan.... i think you think im older than what i am... lol i think we are quite similar in age dude LOL but glad you understand!!

Denham, when i think about it, pretty much all the songs that i can think of off the top of my head that are really hard hitting trance songs are all very emotional that has to relate to relationships... and ofcorse its going to get a huge reaction because we have all had our hearts broken!!! hence the songs hit us!!! it just seems like pain is a requirement to make trance good these days... it doesnt have to be like this!!!

keep this convo going if you want but still... can anyone ID the second song in that film clip please??

Posted by dan_essential on Jun-18-2008 01:50:

I'm 20 Marak!..lol...and u?

Love the explanation about relationships and trance!

oh jeeees your good!!! now just to find the hard version!

thanks heaps big fella! old skool awsome chooooon!!! how unreal is that clip!!! oohhh the 90s.... sigh

Posted by dan_essential on Jun-19-2008 02:26:

I seriously didn't know that bud

I guess everyone has their own explanation, but what you've said is pretty spot on with me. When I'm listening to trance, the emotional, epic side, like Factoria, Danjo or old Somatic Sense records, it churns up a memory or two of focal events in the past. All good though, because that kind of trance is great for relaxing and dancing, so its win-win!..hahahhaa

Also, you just have to look at the track titles of tunes these days; Going Wrong, Love Me More, Love Comes Again, Love Shines Through..etc etc..

the version in the video is a remix of DJ Promo - Up Yours apparently. cant take credit for that one as someone else said it on another forum

Im with Fpcookie, tech trance is the goods these days.Im also loving prog again.Dont mind a bit of psy, especially the chugging stuff Benny was playing at Interview. But for me I love newer trance.I still love the classics. But the newer stuff seems to be more complex and more developed.Im loving ASOT and Trance around the world.Listen to them flat chat at work.Cant go past the haunting melodies, beautiful vocals, magic build ups and break downs.Emo trance is still the stuff that gives me goosebumps even though Ive been listening to it now for almost 6 yrs.I can be having a shit of a day,but when I listen to these tunes it lifts me up and makes me happy.Good music, whatever the genre should affect u and take u on a journey and if it does that, who is anyone to say its shit.
