Anyone have blueprints for a coffin?
Hey guys,
I have a pair of MK2's and a Vestax mixer I would like to build a case for. Just wondering if anyone out there had any blueprints for building a coffin to hold these. I have a basic idea on how I am going to build it, but if any of you have allready built one and still have the blueprints that would be great. Thanks in advance!
What do you need blueprints for? If you have an idea of how to make it, then make some measurements and put some designs on paper! If you're confident enough to build one, then you should also have no trouble making some decent designs of your own and building from your own designs.
Hi DJTJ -
Thanks for the response. Yes I do have an idea of how to make it. I wasn't sure if there was anything special I needed to do, like drill holes in certain places for the power cords, etc.
Thanks again!
Well, you can put holes for power cords wherever you like, there's no standard.
If I were you, and I wanted to make a really good job of it, I wouldn't drill holes for cords at all. Instead, think about fitting connectors onto the back of the coffin for power and audio output.
I did this on my flight cases for my Technics, and it worked really well. I've got an XLR output for the audio (one pin for common ground, one for left, one for right, and the outer is the ground for the TT) and a standard kettle lead for the power.
If you were doing this for a coffin, then all you would need is one power input, and just run the two TT's and the mixer off this in parallel inside the coffin, and one XLR output for the audio, as it is already mixed.
Good luck!
I have been thinking of building my own coffin. What kind of material would you use? Plywood. Anything that will make it lighter, yet still strong?
