two bottles of wine/two decks : a series

this thread will contain all of the bullshit 'jam session' mixes that I record, generally after or during the process of consuming two or more bottles of wine. these are not really promotional - i just like to share music with people and entertain.

i hope you have half as much fun listening as I do playing

download them here or stream from my website: http://www.adamvana.com

Cool

I think more recordings like this need to be shared. Small jam sessions where people "take chances" can be much more interesting.

relax your cherries, greg, my word, what is your problem?

Posted by Sushipunk on Jun-18-2008 07:37:

Mr Vana, that was a REALLY cool set.

Seriously mate, you should record live more often. With or without wine

Edit: Actually, you should try 3 bottles next time

Greg just sucks at reviewing other people's shit.

haha cool man, glad you enjoyed it I just maxxed out my bp crate so after i spend 2 weeks burning all that I'm going to be recording a lot

i always record my sets 'live' in one shot. the only thing that's different here is i didn't intend to record originally, i was a bit tipsy, and i had no intentions on the tracklist

i recorded a 7 hour and a 6 hour set that I did at a weekend lake house party back in may but sadly the recording quality was abhorrent (i forgot to switch it to line in and instead i recorded built in mic, so basically its CRUNCH CRUNCH + crowd noise)

it's a cool track.

manoo is a sick producer. i prefer his deeper stuff like

joparish
satisfy
please

also his new earthrumental ep which has the track 'joe' on it that i used as well as 'winter' and 'this is a test'

but by far my favorite manoo track is "Kodjo". If you like "Agoe" you will like kodjo too.

also check out some of his work with francois a as well, like "a day in december"

cool, this one has a lot of what you were talking about - mixing synth heavy tracks with stripped down tracks

Posted by fatfasses on Jun-20-2008 23:37:

Nice mix
I can understand that this is not preplaned so it is difficult to have the best flow but you did a good job. I enjoyed it !

Posted by nefardec on Jun-21-2008 02:59:

cool

thanks for listening

Can't wait!

Was really feeling the mix until about 38 minutes in, then it sorta became jarring with the edgier sounds, like being asleep and then then thrown into a tub of ice water, ditto at 1:01:38, although I loved the keys? whale mating sounds Track 2 is pure sex.

Still, some really nice jewels in here. I still don't know which of your mixes I prefer yet. It's all delicious. I agree with Sushi, record live more often and add another bottle. If I was a chick, I'd be your groupie.

So I decided I was going to post all of these kind of recordings in one thread as I do them.

here's one from last night, two bottles of wine this time and also a few bottles of sierra nevada pale ale

Nice timing, I'm about 60 mins through listening to your last one again. DL should be finished just in time.

Definitely a cool idea for an ongoing bunch of live sets

Edit: You should have a different 'additive' to each set, be it pale ale, or a shot of whatever. I can see it now:

#36 in the series, with 2 bottles of wine, a beer, 3 tequilas, a vodka cranberry, bourbon and coke...etc...etc...I fell down, so ignore that last part of the mix folks!

So shall we begin a study then?

"How do different types of alcohol affect the style of Adam Vana's live sets?"
