can't wait for the evo4, the prototype I played with in miami was badass.

Where did you get it from?

Oh...and the EVO4 is finally out

Posted by stan229 on Jun-19-2008 22:26:

how much si the Evo 4 going to be/

Posted by Soundwerks on Jun-19-2008 23:26:

$1,449.95 USD

Posted by stan229 on Jun-20-2008 02:12:

that the MSRP? THat's alot if the EVo5 is $1700 and it has much more features.. for $250

Posted by Soundwerks on Jun-20-2008 02:23:

Thats map. $1450 for the EVO4 and MAP for the EVO5 is $1900. Thats a $450 difference between the two.

And conisder that the EVO4 competes with the likes of the DJM-800 and XONE:92, the EVO4 is $100+ cheaper than those two (and its of equal or greater quality )

Posted by stan229 on Jun-20-2008 02:29:

any demos of it comign to NY?

Posted by AnomalyConcept on Jun-20-2008 06:00:

Nice, I didn't know the Evo4 was out already. I suppose it is June already...

I just need some justification for getting a new mixer. And a job. =(

Still trashing the EQ's... hahaha

Posted by Soundwerks on Jun-20-2008 19:13:

even if you dont like the EQ's on the EVO5, you can change the frequency for each EQ, as well as the EQ gain level.

What kind of improvements were made in launching the EVO series? I know you are their rep, so if you could provide some input it would be appreceated. I previously bought a Nuo4, and returned it less than 30 days after buying it due to quality. The sound quality in cue system is not up to par with either of those, other than the eq's having fat nobs, they were cheap feeling and flimsy, especially the hollow plastic. The plastic used on the mixer is flimsy and does not seat itself firmly, and overall it just feels like poor build quality. When you turn a nob it flexes to the left or right, unlike the Pioneer or A&H models. The overall sound quality is nice, but overall IMO the Nuo line is far from the same quality as an A&H or Pioneer.

So my question is, what was changed in the EVO line to make that statement?

I can tell that the mixer is a quality mixer, and it's getting there, but haven't put my hands on an EVO to see if it backs that claim up.

Posted by Soundwerks on Jun-21-2008 00:06:

Well, the knobs on the EVO are exactly the same as the NUO...sorry to dissapoint. I understand your issues with the knob feel though, but in order for ECLER to use metal pots, the cost would go up significantly, and with them being made in Europe (Pioneer and A&H are made in Taiwan/China), that would elevate the price and wouldnt be competitive. Personally, I have never seen a pot break in the past 5 years of selling ECLER, and the majority of users have no complaints about the knobs.

The rest of the mixer (internally) is entire different, with the EVO's being 100% digital. I really dont know what you mean by how the cue system can sound bad, as it is just taking the signal and sending it to the headphones rather than the output.

Posted by MACBOOK69 on Jun-25-2008 01:08:

actually i believe that all the new xones have plastic pots as well its just not as noticable because the knobs are so small

Posted by AnomalyConcept on Jun-25-2008 02:42:

Which ones are 'new'? And anyone care to try? All you gotta do is pull the knob up vertically (check to see if there's a screw on the side of the knobs first, though!) and see what the post is made of.

Posted by Zild on Jun-25-2008 03:11:

I think the 'new' Xones are the ones being made in China, but I might be wrong.

Posted by Soundwerks on Jun-25-2008 12:03:

yes they are

Posted by Ryan0751 on Jun-25-2008 16:56:

SOME of them are, like the 92. The 3D/2D/1D are still made in the UK.

But does it really matter? All Apple products are made in China... along with 90% of everything else we westerners consume.

I think Apple sucks but I was really talking about the 92. I never said the Chinese couldn't properly put together a mixer as I'm quite sure they can. I was simply stating that the newer ones are made there and that they may have plastic pots as someone above posted. For the record I don't have a problem with plastic pots and didn't even notice the ones on my mixer twist a little when you turn them WAY too hard until just a few minutes ago.

Posted by Ryan0751 on Jun-25-2008 17:06:

The 92 I previously owned was made in the UK. The main pots for the filters and the EQ's were metal, but the other pots were plastic.

On my Xone 1D the push/rotary encoders are metal, all others are plastic.

I don't know how much it matters... my Rane has plastic pots for the EQ's, the metal ones on the main part of the mixer (2016) do feel better though.
