Tranceport - STILL!!!

As much as I hate Oakie now, there's something about the original Tranceport CD that's just SO FUCKING GOOD. Greece, Rendezvous, Cafe, 1998, Gamemaster.... what happened to those times?! The good music was so plentiful...

Posted by Omega_Blue on Jun-19-2008 20:45:

good music mixed so fucking badly though

I disagree. I say Tranceport was one of the very select few things he did right.

This CD holds a very special place in my heart since this was what first got me into EDM.

I love this but my favorite Oakenfold CD is still Voyage Into Trance

Posted by RebeL9 on Jun-19-2008 22:17:

Yeah Voyage into Goa is fantastic. Still play it now and then. It have also been re-released like 50 times or so. :P

the CD I bought came with either choice of poster or dvd with psychadelic visuals. I chose the DVD and it was kinda lame, wish I had chosen the poster. However on the plus side my roomates this semester seem to be in to partaking in what that little guy up there is smoking, so maybe we will put that DVD to good use after all.

Tranceport is definitely amazing.

Posted by Omega_Blue on Jun-20-2008 02:42:

step out of the nostalgic mindset for a second and listen to it objectively, and i think you'll realize that it's a lot of classic 99ish trance that's programmed and mixed very, very poorly.

the CD reminds me of being really really stoned while eating Taco Bell.

yeah definitely, but the one by bayshore is still employed by some unsavory types imo. btw you should see the new TB in janesville, it's freakin swanky.

anyways back to tranceport. it's mixed very badly.

Oakie's 1994 EM = Win

Posted by PETRAN on Jun-20-2008 10:43:

Tranceport ia a classic trance compilation. Some of these tunes are still amazing. I don't know if they are badly produced or badly mixed or anything, bu these tunes have this mid-end-of-90s melodic trance trippiness. Its a special atmosphere very hard to describe. I don't know, maybe its nostalgia but there is something "romantic" about some of these tunes (now this sounded quite Emoish lol).

Paul Oakenfold's GU: New York is another special one that hasn't dated for me.

Its true, maybe Oakie's mixing techniques weren't the best, but his 90s track selections were amazing. Seriously.
