018 Windmill Sessions June 2008

2 hours of finely-crafted deep-melodic works from all 4 corners of the globe, taking in breaks, progressive and trancier sounds. As the summer draws near expect a smoother, grooving feel to the opening part of the mix before the darker, driving section takes hold.

Ishq-Alaya
Spine-tingling ambient work full of lush sweeps, soulful chanting and a distinct Eastern flavour. I let this intro last quite a while as I felt it was such a strong piece of music in its own right.
J.Viewz-Estha
One of the best tracks I have heard this year, wonderful percussive beats, driving rhythm and twinkling melody. Again the evocative Eastern feel is here in abundance.
Tim Davison-SU242
Darker, crunchier and grungier breakbeat is introduced next for a bit of a wake-up call after the dreamy introduction. Lovely lo-fi vocals throughout that really capture the mood.
Moti Brothers-I Love Budapest
Smooth, instrument-led melodic wizardary. Love how the melodies are constantly overlapping and complementing each other in this.
Latenta Project-Lost Souls (deep mix)
A track which signals the start of a housier and altogether deeper section of music. Again the sheer musical prowess of the production is the standout feature.
Aleksey Beloozerov-Electric Snowstorm
Smooth, ethereal piano work number, in the style of Digital Witchcraft-Fingerpaint.
Tim Mills-Eclipse Of The Sun (arthur deep's tokyo sunset remix)
Another great track from Arthur Deep whose star is quickly ascending. Keep an eyeout for some brilliant releases from this guy in the next few months.
Promonova-Two Equators (mango remix)
Nice long mix into one of Mango's best works in my opinion, reductive but thoughtful and laden with melodic whispers to tease and enthrall!
Jerico-Spiritcatcher
A bit of energy is injected into the mix now with the coruscating 'Spiritcatcher'.
DJ Harsh-Ponder
Melody-heavy impactful track from Dj Harsh, with natural, beach-sounding percussion and atmosphere.
Dj Harsh ft. Lina Mehta-Such Is Life (arthur deep remix)
Another great Arthur Deep treatment. This track increases the tempo once again as we enter the trancier send hour.
Mango-Friday Coffee (paul keeley remix)
A massive track is given a massive remix by man of the moment Paul Keeley. Melodic house music at its best.
Moti Brothers-Toronto
Big room grooving tune, with a melancholic repeated melody that carries you along the big breaks and drops.
Tim Davison-Brass Monkeys
Darker, driving and stripped back track from Tim Davison. Loving the punchey beats and flowing energy in this.
Domased Electronica-Naiad
Wonderful dark progressive track. Can quite imagine this being played midset in a dark main room somewhere to keep the crowd moving.
Recluse-Emotional Void
Now the real trance sounds begin with the Emotional Void. For me Recluse were a vastly under-rated production outfit, as their records still sound fresh today.
Parker+Hanson-Let Me Be (instrumental mix)
Increasing the tempo once again with this emotional track. Massive melodic lead hurls you through the drops of this track.
Micro-Fall Into Me
Dusted down the vinyl of this bad boy for inclusion in the set as I felt I needed a huge, euphoric track that didn't conform to type. Hopefuly this delivers and more.
Pulser-Cloudwalking (beatpushers remix)
To wrap up the mix is a classic, remixed in a way that it generates a whole new life and feeling. Hugely anthemic end.
Ishq-Alaya (outro)
To gently ease the listener out I reprised 'Alaya' to leave a moment of reflection mixed with the memory of euphoria.
In like Flynn.

This is yet another massive set, mate. Just finished up at work, but a proper review will have to wait until the weekend. The Arthur Deep treatment of Eclipse of the Sun and Mango's remix of Two Equators are bomb.
Can't believe we've had a year and a half of these mixes!

Good to know, mate. This will help me as I heal. Stepped on a Copperhead late Saturday night, so I'm stuck at home and indoors whilst on the mend!
