Vibrasphere!!

Absolutely loving you. Another good producer found long time after my last find Ulrich Schnauss, a treasure.

'Archipelago' and than 'Exploring the Tributaries' album.. thanks for it.

Amazed at how good he is so good at making BOTH 'pschedelic' albums AND than completly different 'ambient' album at the same time equally good. Two completly different genres and style!

His "Selected Downbeats Vol.1" collection is a MUST BUY!! Not one track in that CD that I just dont adore.

Search next time, there have been countless Vibrasphere threads already.

Vibrasphere is a group of 2 people. They've made alot of single tracks aswell. Pretty much all albums are great, and Lime Structure is worth it just for the track Manzanilla.

I would add Lemon Phase and Silver Sun as well. They are both simple, yet nice groovy tracks. Especially Silver Sun, I love it.

They are definetly one of the leading trance duos in the scene.
All their four albums (Selected Downbeats doesnt count as an album since its a collection of new and old downtempo tunes) are great.
And they have progressed alot as producers.
I rank Archipelago as their best album, it's also the most complete trance albums released in recent years. Every track is phenomenal.
Swedish trance when it's at its best.

Posted by Meat187 on Jun-21-2008 21:10:

Meh.
Most of their stuff does nothing for me.

Posted by THE_Chris on Jun-21-2008 21:10:

Archipelago is their best work that I've heard - all great stuff. Exploring the Tributaries had only one track of the Archipelago standard, but was alright as an album.

Havent heard Lime Structure or Echo but both of them are insanely expensive so its not gonna happen for a while

Exploring The Tributaries is a fantastic album ! On the contrary, Archipelago ... well, the first two tracks are excellent imo, but the rest is just not my cup of tea.

Is Vibrasphere's download shop region locked or something? Lime Structure and Echo combined for only $9 USD. Insanely cheap (and yes in WAV format).

"Manzanilla" and "Tierra Azul" used to be my favorite Vibrasphere tracks but now I think "Autumn Lights" has taken their place. I really love all of their stuff but "Autumn Lights" is just phenomenal, both remixes are great too.

Posted by TranceArmstrong on Jun-22-2008 01:11:

The whole Archipelago album is awesome, thought the most recent album was kinda meh.

Autumn Lights impressed me the first time I heard it, but then I heard it again mixed in on Psy-Trance Euphoria Disc 1 and it blew my mind - great song. I don't spin trance but Vibrasphere definitely have tracks that make me want to pitch up my sets to incorporate some songs.

+ 1 ...

I like Archipelago and Exploring the Tributaries (especially ETT, which is more progressive/ambient oriented and a very very nice album indeed). Archipelago has some nice tunes and a nice atmosphere over-all, but i think its effects-production over music, so i guess it could be a little more musical for me. Still, these noisy woosh effects present through-out the album give a nice ambient-atmopshere. I have to say though that Archipelago has a great front-cover which IMO is better than the music itself!

Damn, that would be the perfect front-cover for a Sigur Ros album, or a weird dark-ambient project or something...

Although I'm not a big fan of goa/psy, Archipelago FTW!

Posted by Kuffdam on Jun-22-2008 19:24:

yeah I have to agree

I'm a big fan of the Vibrasphere stuff

been playing alot of the tracks from these guys recently

cracking work

love em
saw them live, except it was only one of the guys since the other doesn't like to travel

Yep, Robert Elster does the live appearances by himself. Saw him a couple of weeks ago and it was quite disappointing. Slow and predictable. On record > live (nowadays at least).

I am surprised more people like Archipelago over ETT.. I personally like ETT more.. as PETRAN pointed out earlier, tracks on Archipelago are too heavy for me too.. like a lot of music/sound in one single track blend together, like overdone.. ETT is more subtle and I like the simplicity of tracks in it..

But overall Archipelago has greater number of good tracks than ETT IMO.

He means "over-produced" with lots of effects and samples going-on at once, whereas tracks in Exploring the Tributaries revolve around a more specific central theme and are more simple. I will agree to that, although what is "over-" and "under-" produced is quite subjective really. Some people like "heavy" productions whereas others call them "over-produced" so it is not standard.

It's a question of style and thus of taste.

To generalise it in one way.. people who like high bass setting on their winamp would like Archipelago.. and people with low bass and more treble would like ETT..

Posted by THE_Chris on Jun-23-2008 16:57:

On the other hand, Archipelago is a great trance album, but Exploring The Tributaries is a bit more minimal and electro influenced (or 'experimental' as they called it) so isnt as good. Interesting to see how other people compare the two.
