Goldclub @ GUV last night!!!
Let me start off by saying this party, when first announced had the chance of being the party of the year. The dj lineup looked very solid. And then they announced Slacker would no longer be playing the main room. I was disappointed when I heard that but the bright side in him being taken out of the lineup was the Dave Seaman would have gotten to play an extended set. And then late this week it was announced that Seaman would not be in attendance due to VISA problems and he was to be replaced by one half of Deep Dish (Sharam). This was for myself personally the worst thing that could have possibly happened. The main reason I wanted to go to this party was for Dave Seaman and to hear he was not even able to make it into the country was a total letdown.
I got to Guvernment at around 11:30 and we got in after about a half hours wait in the Goldclub VIP line. As we got inside the main room Luke Fair was finishing his set and Luiz Diaz was about to take to the stage. I was not feeling the music in there so it was off to the Orange Room where we were able to see Kenny Glasgow RIPPING SHIT UP!!! A KILLER set of electro and funky techno. WICKED WICKED WICKED beats...hes definately one of the top local djs...very skilled behind the decks and I LOVE his track selection, often I dont like techno djs just because of the repetetiveness!!! It generally tends to do my head in, but he keeps things interesting with his inclusion of Electro and funky house into his sets.
next it was onto the Kool Haus, at this time Timo Maas was playing. I must say he had the set of the night. An eclectic mix of prog. house, techno, funky house and BREAKS!!! HOLY SHIT the breaks he ended his set with were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Id i had to rate Timo's set id give him a 9/10.
One of the top 3 sets ive heard ALL YEAR!!! He was soooooo much better last night then he was at last years Summers End. Unfortunately Timo ended his set around 2am. I wish he could have stayed on for a bit longer.
So after Timo had finished his set it was time for me to start veturing into the other rooms to check out the other djs...Tiga was playing some bad ass funky techno and electro in the orange room. I stayed in there for a bit and then headed into the main room where Sharam from Deep Dish was playing. If I could say two words that would best describe his set they would be TOTAL LETDOWN!!! This was my third time seeing him and the third time I have been disappointed with him. I just dont like his styles at all...I just thought that he played boring music...its not the kind of stuff I want to hear at 4am in the morning. Saeed and Palash were up next and they were just as, if not worse than Sharam was. Dark plodding UNEVENTFUL tribal house. Fuck im really getting sick of all of that tribal house bullshit...am I the only one that feels this way???...
So then it was then time to go back into the Kool Haus to escape the boredom of the GUV. Josh Wink was in the Kool Haus at this time. He was playing a mix of funky techno and house. He was OK at best. Nothing special...he made me want to leave the club...
so in the end...basically the only djs that got me moving last night were TIMO, Kenny G and Tiga. Aside from them I thought everyone else sucked...green velvet is a freakshow lol...he was boring too...all of his music sounded the same...FUCK!!! What a crappy night...thank god I didnt have to pay to get in...i would have been pissed if I had to have payed for that party last night...
last night got a 5/10!!! (i think im being generous with the 5 too lol)
The crowd and decor (as they are with all B+H parties was amazing), its just that the music after 3am was TOTALLY SHIT THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE COMPLEX!!! It would have been nice if Timo had been given the opportunity to play longer but oh well...what can you do...!!!
wow the first time Special K didn't like an event in Guv lol
personally, last night was a blast. i didn't know who was spinning, but i did see half of Timo Maas set, heard those breakS he spun, i was going insane
then i was standing upstairs and listening to Sharam's set, it was pretty fookin good, nice pounding house
stayed there for 30 mins and went to chill in the acid lounge...was it Saleed & Palash who came on at 4am? man, they spun that sick ass pounding progressive dark track, with those dark lyrics, repeting about 10 times "SORRY", wat a massive tune
around 4 30 i left, cud of stayed longer, unfortunately the people i was with your dieing out of exhuastion lol
i dunno about others, but i found the crowd good last night, there wasn't that much asians, well at least in the acid lounge, there wasn't any this time at all
seeing the new Guv, well, it just looks a bit nicer, but the dj booth isn't that much lower either...
overall musik was great, people were oki, 8/10
The only reason I went to the party it was because of Dave, but as you already know he did not show up due to Visa problems. So next dj on a list was Timo and what a set. I went just nuts at the end when he spoon some breaks, omg awesome. Guvernmnet line up ws to boring for me, and I totally agree with special K about tribal house bs. Crowd I find pretty friendly, a lot of people wearing soccer jerseys, so you can feel world cup vibe, amazing. Try to find blue_neon all night long with his friends and I was unssuccesful. Overall I will give 5.5/10 for this party, just because of Timo and Green - what a nice live performance. There were couple of girls that just went so nuts, omg, to the Green show, that made my night, lol.
Overall I was kind of disappointment not to see one of the best - Seaman, but Timo and Green made my night. So it was not that bad.
And by the way, it was a lot of room to dance, especially in the guvernment last night.

It was a jungle out there!
What a party! I absolutely loved it, it was insane.
The new Guv decor, the Goldclub series decor in Kool Haus was amazing. LIGHT SHOW in Kool Haus - madness!!!
The music.. Timo Maas was pure bliss. Was he better then @ Summer's End?... I'd say I liked his last set better, but I enjoyed it as much last night. I was mainly in the Kool Haus, but did visit Guv a few times. I came in somewhere between 23:30-00:00 and whoever was spinning in the Guv at the time didn't move me at all, it was breaking up at times. The guy from Deep Dish was too monotonous (as I expected), but I went there to escape Green Velvet
absolutely cannot stand that guy aaaa GRRRR
!$%^* His whole performance seemed like he's going to lead into La La Land and I was really hoping he won't perform it cause that song makes me physically sick. When he was @ Smirnoff I had to shut my ears and hide somewhere during his time slot.
Hmmm what else.. Oh, those greased male go-go dancers in gold speedos - YUCK!! I was standing with my back leaning on the VIP area in the middle of Kool Haus enjoying the laser madness, but those gorillas ruined the view. Ugh! (And they are paying them for that?!?!)
Other than that, the night would be 10/10 if it wasn't for my heels and my choise of substance................... ![]()
Special K, nice meeting you there
Yeah, last night was pretty good. Those breaks in the kool haus were fuckin sick...but after we (me, blue_neon and friends) left there, and went to chill upstairs, I started to fall asleep, and was like that until we got out of the Acid Lounge, and danced to the last track of our stay (that "sorry" track neon mentioned...sickass tune). Overall it was pretty fun, too bad I was burnt out at the end.
7/10

Oh yeah, Special K, how the hell did you get the free entrance to this event...? Hook the brother up...
boring
i swear to god that the same track was playing in the guv all night....progressive trabal house is soo soo boring...deepdish and saeed&palash played the exact same style all night...that evil voice..you know the one.
i heard one track 4 times....once in the guv, twice in the kool haus, and once in the orange room.......ya think they'd have a little more variety...
meh.....i liked tiga's electro set and timo was wiked.
it needed trance to undull the place......it was boring.
Oh, does anyone know that tune, that was played in Kool Haus (don't know who played it) but the lyrics in it goes something like "Warning! Do Not Attempt To Leave The Dance Floor! During the party an unkown frequency has made its way into our system and is now taking over! and the DJ will run a test through the system! I repeat This Is Only A Test!" there was a bit more to it, and the lyric didnt go exactly like that, but thats the jist of it. That song was fuckin sick!!
That was a pretty good party but I paid $35 at the door so I don't think it was worth that much...if Seaman and Slacker were there it would definitely be worth it. The beginning of the night was kind of dry. The music in both rooms was mediocre and walking between them was a pain in the ass. I enjoyed the small part of Timo's set but it was too loud. I enjoyed Sharam's set the most even though the vibe was lacking in the guvernment. All in all, a good night but not great.

Yeah that guy from Deep Dish was boring as hell, almost passed out in there..
In Kool haus Green Velvet sucked shit, i mean did they go out and find the most annoying voice ever and put the guy on stage?? Then trying to be cool at the end of his horrible performance he throws his stupid piano/guitar thingy on the floor, HURTING!!!
I didn't recognize any of the djs, i had no clue who was playing in what room and when...
Left the club at 3:30, just had no more energy, i tried to stay awake but my efforts were futile!!
At least special K was honest about the muzik yesterday... The crowd was kool though, no bad vibe at all!!
Definitely not worth $35 at the door, i'd rate it a 4/10 night...
OH YA ALMOST FORGOT: When i first walked into Guv the sound system, sorry, THE PHAZON sound system was farting big time!! The sound was so distorted it was unreal, I have never heard that sound system sound like that..
In Kool Haus the system was way too loud! That system in there has no sound quality whatsoever so they have to crank it up i guess...
The setup, ie props, visuals, etc, were excellent. Thats definitely one area which no one can come close to Guv...

(I guess I won't be doing this thing for a while now)... and I believe "Djole" succeeded in that task anyway... (dobri stari Djole) I hope the rest of the night/morning/day turned out all right. |

heh, some friends came over on saturday night and we all chilled 'till like 8pm on sunday... so i guess you could say i was in no shape to go partying that night
The reason i came to this, was because i bought my ticket when Dave was still on the line-up, and plus there was nothing else to do this weekend. I knew that i would not love this event, but i thought it would at least be enjoyable to some degree.
