Wisternoff review?

No one from this board has a review for the night? I guess dance music really is dead if even NYC is unable to pack (or even procure a marginal turnout) 3 shows in one night.

Dance music isn't dead. It's just the board. It was a great night. Jody has become one of my favorite djs over the past couple years so my review might be a bit biased...

I got there at 1 just in time for Jody to get on. The man's a talented dj. This was my first time seeing him live (I seem to always miss the dates he has scheduled here including the show that got cancelled in March) and I was a bit afraid that his dj skills weren't going to be up to the quality of his monthly show. I was pleasantly surprised though and after seeing him on Friday and Nick Warren a couple years ago, have to admit that he's my favored half of WoW. He knows how to work the crowd and his mixing is seamless. He played many of the tracks from recent sets of his monthly show including the Add2Basket track he had last month that the crowd was loving. Threw lots of his own mixes in there too.

Cielo was great as always. No wait at the door, great sound, big Japanese beers, good girl/guy ratio. I really have nothing bad to say about the night. All in all, it was great hearing some of Jody's funky beats for a couple hours!

That's because in NYC the party doesn't end until we have to go to work Monday morning. Give everyone a chance to recover and reviews will be posted.

Your point being? I'm just east of Dallas, home of the legendary Starck club and one of the first cities to bring in the likes of N-Joi, Prodigy and other European supergroups in the early 90s. Don't be a hater.

I was a little surprised and disappointed to see no mention of this show, that's all. Both Cosmic Gate and Nic F shows have been chronicled here with plenty of responses. Jody's been in this game for 15 years, so my frustration had to be expressed in some way.

Thanks, Choobak and StarSoprano for the responses.

what are you talking about? Not everyone runs home from a club and immediately posts a review of their night. If you haven't noticed, TA is pretty dead on weekends...

btw, Sultan played here at Mansion on Friday as well with Nadia Ali from Iio. OMG, no one's posted a review yet! what is the NYC club scene coming to?!

True that Sir. From My own experience, it's usually the most wasted TA who attended the event that is the first to post a review..ie: Me after Preach and Me after Fanciulli and then it aint until Monday that people respond...

Please lets not review Boris on this board. I see enough of that on other boards. (thats why i am here)

In regards to what Steve said: he is 100% right. I haven't yet restored my brain cells to write a review about his party on friday.

PS... TX Dude, be kind and rewind before your train wrack your smart ass back to where the sun will really shine bright. No need to talk smak to get attention.

It could be that all there is to do in Texas is read NYC forums on sunday mornings looking for party reviews.

lol, agreed. The first two years I went out, I would get home at like 7 in the morning, and immediately turn on my computer to post my review of the night on TA, Clubplanet etc, etc... My mom would come downstairs to make her coffee and could never understand how on Earth I could be wide awake after being out all night...

ahh, those were the days...

the MeltingPot NYC party on the coney island boardwalk was poppin' yesterday (and was 10 times more packed than last year's).

/review.

That's Hilarious. My parents used to say to Me "How is it that you're wide awake on a Saturday and Sunday morning, but you can't get your ass out of bed on a Monday morning to go to work ?"..

Yes Zack, They certainly were the days..

Listen, this is not a case of talking smack about New York but was more of a commentary on dance music's health in the states and specifically, the lack of review about this event (you should call me a WOW ho before you accuse of me starting region fights). The only reason I mentioned Dallas' history was because someone started with some regional smacktalk of their own. Anyway, this was a Friday night party and I didn't post this thread until Sunday morning/afternoon, figuring that was ample time to get around to posting at least a remark ("cool show" or "wow, that sucked"). Otherwise, one gets the impression (mistakened or not) that the show must have not gone down too well or nobody showed! That Nic F. review was hardly the work of someone who was wasted out of their mind.

Thanks for the youtube snippet, that's Chymera's "Parelo" (Wisternoff Remix).

This is where you're incorrect. All I really cared to see was a Wisternoff review. He only hits the west and east coast these days, hardly playing America's heartland anymore, so I was looking for a specific review. Touchy mofos in here.

Alot of DJs avoid America's heartland like the plague....

...there could be a reason for that

It's not what you said. It's the WAY you said it. A simple..."hey did anyone go see Jody?" would have been quite enough.

But no...you had to exaggerate, and bring in your baseless comment regarding "the supposed state of dance music" which would tempt everyone to come in and debate that with you.

He played Dallas in 2005 with a great response. He was rebooked in 2006 but developed a severe case of hyperacusis so had to cancel. There's nothing wrong with playing this town, it's only prejudices and misconceptions that would cause someone to avoid this city like the "plague," if this is your insinuation.

Euphoria, I was very disappointed, that's all. I've been rallying for this guy for ages. I want to see him get a high profile comp and make an even bigger splash worldwide (domestically in particular). I'm sorry if I was a little depressed about that and made a comment that pulled all your strings.

I suggest talking to your area promoter in the future about bringing in DJs that you think would go over well in your area

Austin gets some good events. I know its not ideal for Dallas but is better than nothing.

The party was fantastic! Jody is an absolute great guy and his set was gorgeous. Very melodic, chunky, driving stuff that had the whole going nuts. His "Parelo" remix blew the room up, and I loved when he dropped the Jooris Voorn remix of "Magnolia." We had a blast opening up for Jody - just a solid floor of of smiling faces and dancing people

After the club closed there was a spontaneous steet party right outside Cielo. It was an amazing scene that just developed out of nowhere.

Check out the video --
