Yonge Subway - Early Closure

Effective June 22, 2008 until early 2009 , from 12:30am Sunday through Friday, there will be no subway train service between Lawrence Station and Finch Station during subway tunnel repairs.




Summary

No trains north of Lawrence Station after 12:30am, Sunday through Friday
Stations without subway service include Finch, Sheppard-Yonge, North York Centre and York Mills. These stations remain open for bus service, except for North York Centre which will close at approximately 12:30am.
Bus routes extended south on Yonge Street to Lawrence Station include the 36 Finch West, 39 Finch East, 53 Steeles East and the 60 Steeles West, serving all stops on Yonge Street.
An accessible bus connection, the 97F Yonge, will operate between Davisville and Finch stations, serving all stops on Yonge Street.
Regular subway service on Saturdays.


Description of work

Train service on the Yonge Subway north of Lawrence Station will end early at night, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Monday to Friday, and on Sundays and holidays, in order to permit accelerated replacement of tunnel liners. During the closure, trains will operate from Downsview Station to Lawrence Station. A frequent bus service will replace the subway north of Lawrence Station at the times when it is closed. This service change will continue into 2009.

Normal service will operate on Saturday nights (including early Sunday morning); trains will continue to operate until the usual closing time.


Temporary service � Earlier last trains

Train service north of Lawrence Station will end at approximately 12:30 a.m., Monday to Friday, and Sundays and holidays. A temporary bus service will replace the trains.

At stations with connecting bus service (York Mills Station, Sheppard-Yonge Station and Finch Station) the bus terminals will remain open at these stations. North York Centre Station will close after the last train departs.

Trains on the Sheppard Subway will continue to operate with the usual service levels and last train times, but after 12:23 a.m. they will serve the north platform at Sheppard-Yonge Station instead of the south platform.

The automatic station entrances at York Mills (South Entrance) and Sheppard-Yonge (Poyntz Entrance and West Entrance) will close after the last Yonge train departs. The Harlandale Entrance at Sheppard-Yonge Station will remain open until the usual closing time

Last northbound train departure from Lawrence Station - 12:18 a.m.
Last southbound train arrival at Lawrence Station - 12:21 a.m.
Last southbound train departure from Lawrence Station - 1:25 a.m.
Last train arrival at Finch Station - 12:27 a.m.
Last train departure from Finch Station - 12:12 a.m.
First bus northbound from Lawrence Station - 12:13 a.m.
Last bus northbound from Lawrence Station - 2:10 a.m.
First bus southbound from Finch Station - 12:08 a.m.
Last bus southbound from Finch Station - 1:50 a.m.

Crime rates in Toronto will drop when you cut off Jane St. area residents from the Finch subway.
