Guitar Centre

I see a lot of people on these forums who seem to buy quite a lot from here. I went on to have a look just there now and found that cdj 1000's are only 557 (pounds) each. Is this too good to be true? Anyone with reviews please share them with me

Wait...is this USA only?

GC has the worst prices in the US. I only go there to demo.

As well as the most useless and worthless staff I've ever encountered, and what is easily the worst/most inconsistent extended protection program I have ever foolishly paid for.

Fuck Guitar Center and the bulk of their employees, right in their stupid ears.

I went there once to demo but they refused to get out two of the same cdjs (all their floor setups have two different cdjs and I wanted to try out two of the same) and they refused due to theft concerns. Mind you, I weigh as much as a cat.

Wow! I never had any problems with Guitar Center. Their staff at the one by my house is awesome. They always hook it up with DEEP discounts on top of the Price Match. For instance, I got my Rane TTM57 Mixer for only $1050!!!! I got my Sennheisse HD25 Headphones for $129!!! I got CDJ 800 MKII for $589. And I got my old Pioneer Headphones for $99.

i've never had any problem with GC either, i like going there because it's so conveniently close. i do admit they are priced at retail and not very competitively, but it's great to go see something in real life then maybe buy it online

Posted by DjWoody on Jun-23-2008 23:35:

I hope you guys do know that GC pricematches online prices. If you see something online and GC sells it, they will price match that item even if they loose money on it. Trust me, I do it all the time.

Posted by nerdgrl416 on Jun-23-2008 23:58:

I thought GC stopped price matching because they were acquired by another company. Can someone confirm that?

Everyone always says that but if they're not authorized resellers (ie: just some random site, you're out of luck). Actually, they wouldn't price match AGI a few years ago when I bought my gear.

Posted by DjWoody on Jun-24-2008 00:15:

Nope! They didn't stopped price matching. I just bought a pair of CDJ's about a month ago. They told me they stopped the "homie" discounts because now they have to reference/justify every discount. So if you want a discount, you better show up with something to price match.

That's odd, they always priced match AGI for me.

My store is full of complete idiots. I guess it's just a store by store thing a lot of the times with who's working there.

I've never had any issue with price matching. I've even gotten them to knock off the sales tax since I wouldn't pay it online. The only problem I've encountered on the tax issue is they always want me to sign up for some tax free account and call it "Ray Productions" or something. Tey say in TX there's a law that exempts producers from sales tax "if they try to show a profit." It's kind of shady and I don't want the tax man knocking on my door later on. I quit buying from them within the past couple months though cause I'm tired of haggling for a decent price. I'll just buy it from the people that offer it up front and support that mentality... not the one that rips off people that are new or unwilling to haggle.

Posted by Ryan0751 on Jun-24-2008 02:11:

The price-matching elimination was recent, in the last few months.

Posted by DjWoody on Jun-24-2008 02:48:

Hmmm that's odd, because according to their website they still pricematch. I bought a pair of CDJ's less than a month ago and they priced match.

-----------

Will you match prices with other Retailers?

We entertain all Internet price match requests but we cannot guarantee that we will match the prices in all cases. Not all Internet merchants are authorized dealers, nor do they always abide by the pricing guidelines mandated by the respective product manufacturers. At times it is difficult to determine whether the Internet merchant is offering a new product versus a refurbished, blemished, or discontinued product. You may submit your price match request by e-mail (click here), or by phone at 1-866-498-7882.

so why wouldn't you just buy from agi. they always hook it up and they are very helpful. whatever happened to supporting fellow dj's instead of big retailers

Sometimes it's a matter of convenience.

yes 2 days of shipping during the work week is pretty inbareable

Posted by DizkokidD on Jun-24-2008 04:56:

yup, i paid about 1030 for my djm 800 when it first came out, and also i recently purchased a cdj mkIII for the same price..its always best to go to their sale on memorial weekend.. but also speak with the same guy that you purchased from before if you purchased their.

woody.. do you go to the one off the 405 near fry's, thats the best one.

Posted by DjWoody on Jun-24-2008 06:41:

Yes. I always go to that one. I deal with Jeremy. He's the best!

Posted by i got big pants on Jun-24-2008 06:57:

guitar center brea is pretty good for giving deals...the guys in pro audio know their stuff and they wont let you walk if they know your going to buy. i would know since i used to work there and still get the hookup from them. only a couple of guys are good at dj gear...the rest are keyboards and recording

and with the price matching...they should still do it. they just have to have a reason as to why they are discounting. i got some trs cables at $2 bucks as opposed to $15 or so for each

Posted by Alan2008 on Jun-24-2008 13:07:

They're no good for me anyway...They aren't shipping international If anyone knows any cheap places where UK shipping is available let me know! cheers

Sorry bud, but not even AGI ships that fast, at least not to Miami. It took about a week. All I'm sayin is there are certain circumstances where you can't be waiting that long for gear, especially if something breaks down on you.
