Tracklisting requests to DJs on Myspace
My friend does it, and I think its pretty stupid. I told him to stop doing it, but he does it anyway. Hes never even gotten a reply. Hes messaged Sasha, Paul van Dyk, Cosmic Gate, etc.
Ive been searching for a track for a couple months..and he told me to just message the DJ on myspace. I told him:
A)Theyre probably sick of hearing people ask what tracks they play.
B)Im sure they dont want to give out the names of the tracks, to keep their mixes more exclusive. They have to work hard to find quality tracks, too.
C)Half the time, its probably not even the actual DJ that checks the messages on myspace anyway.
Has anyone actually ever done this? Seems stupid to me.
Probably pointless, but does it hurt? Meh.
what is stupid is deejays who don't bother answering to their fans. if you don't want to reveal the title, just say it. not answering to messages with clear questions is just arrogant, it only takes like 10-20 seconds to do so.
hint:
these people have people who log onto myspace for them

I asked Rowan Blades a while ago where i could find livesets from him, and he gave me a nice answer and a link to a lot of sets. Then again it wasnt a tracklist request so maybe that's why. Either way he seems to be a great guy
Only time i used MySpace really. Who designed that site? It looks like shit.
I asked once peter pestra what sample he used on a track.... he gave me an answer.
It's not stupid, depending upon who you're asking.
I've asked people like Damian DP and DJ Elusive about some of their t/l's and tracks they've played out in videos I've seen, and they've responded to my requests.
If you're e-mailing Oakenfold or Digweed, however, as to what they was playing on some weekend he was in your town, then save yourself the effort.
...and yes, as per nefardec's comments, these major headliners usually have people log on to their Myspace for them.
what a great profession. i'd like to be the myspacer for felix da housecat
