Activa - End of Summer. WHAT THE F?? (Galaxia rip-off)

So, while I am already not too fond of Trance music lately, for the last 4/5 years, I occassionally find a cool track, but today comes the biggest WTF ever. I was on Audiojelly, checking out some new releases and clicked Activa - End of Summer. And what the fuck? It's just one big fucking rip-off of Ferry's 'Galaxia'. How does a producer get away this? Why in the hell does a producer do this? Why the hell does a label even sign this? Do the people at the label not even think it's just a blatant rip-off of 'Galaxia'? The Trance scene is fucked up enough, as it is, with all those weener-Trance releases, but this one just takes the cake. Someone makes a track, rips off another track, and even gets signed. What the fucking fuck.

ur reading into this way too much...im listening to the song right now, it has minor similarities but its not a friggin ripoff, ease up. activa is talented, he doesnt need to steal songs from other dj's. the song has similar melodies and sounds to it, big deal.

blank and jones gets away with bigger rip offs

it doesnt have minor melody, its almost exactly the same.

Posted by Fledz on Jun-26-2008 03:51:

Is it just my subconscious hearing the strings in the background or are there actually Galaxia strings, though very subtle in there?

Sounds very similar indeed.

hmmmm. I don't think he ripped it off.

End Of Summer is amazing.

lol, just compare all tracks from these producers and they all sound the same.

Firstly, though I am sure you are aware, the first track you posted is in itself a bootleg of a gothic rock track.

Secondly, the Anticipation track sounds bollock all like Join Me.

It's sad, but these things happens all the time. Check out the thread "tracks that sound like other tracks..." for a billion examples.

Ok, lesson for the day

PRODUCERS make songs

DJ's Play songs, either their own, or other peoples (although too many whore themselves these days which causes a lack of variety)

Now, sometimes a person will do both, and that's where it becomes tricky...

Posted by jalamanta on Jun-26-2008 08:06:

whether trance producers make their own tracks or rip off, it still sounds fuckin the same nevertheless

Posted by Stino on Jun-26-2008 14:22:

this topic is again one big cliche... incredible.

Do you really think Activa was thinking at his desk... he lets make a galaxia rip-off. It uses some same chords ... whatever, who cares.

Why in the world making such a big deal out of it, totally pointless

Posted by RebeL9 on Jun-26-2008 14:27:

so much hassle for such a crappy tune

Posted by Quethas on Jun-26-2008 14:31:

Is it a new thing that producers umm... borrows other people's ideas?

Posted by Stino on Jun-26-2008 15:57:

dude, its just a coincidence... damnit how stupid are you. There is a limit variation of chord progression available, sometimes two different producers end up with the same vibe, melody or something similar... happens a lot, also in other music genres.

Posted by Darrell Austin on Jun-26-2008 16:09:

but to suggest that activa has never heard Galaxia is redicilous.

Posted by Owsey on Jun-26-2008 18:21:

Hmm...i don't think it's anything too serious. I doubt he was purposely trying to rip off Ferry. Sure the melody sounds a bit similar but it's not really a big deal, happens all the time...

i didnt...

Posted by Sjodalf on Jun-26-2008 23:09:

That's pretty damn close yeah.
Exactly the same chords, and by that being the 'melody' - it's more like a remix.

As mentioned here, I'm pretty sure he's not conscious aware of using the same chords, though. But even though.. with Galaxia being such a classic, it's still a bit weird.

exactly...

Its sad that some people have nothing else to do then just shout OMG RIPPED OFF FROM TUNE XXXX, then blame every new trance song around, of course saying that it was all better years ago.

Posted by Meat187 on Jun-27-2008 11:41:

Next thing you know, someone will figure out Scooter ripped off other tracks, too.

Pff, you were already quickly becoming one of my least favorite posters here on TA, and producer also, but this post is full of stupid. A coincidence... Hmm, yeah right. And Activa didn't even hear the slightest resemblance with Galaxia? Wow, what a great producer. Also, a limit variation of chord progression? Come on. You make it sound like the only chord progression possible is that of Galaxia. What bullshit. There's so many ways of chord progression, if you can make up your own ofcourse

When situations like this happen it means you listen way too much to Trance.
