how do you set up headphones on Virtual DJ?

if i dont have a external mixer, is there a way to hook up headphones so i can listen to the inactive deck while the speakers play the active one?

From what I gather you don't have a midi controller. What sort of DJ software are you using. I know that Traktor has a really nice preview thing, you don't even have to load it. You could also mix the headphones to listen only to the inactive deck. You would have to do it everytime though.

virtual dj, it has a really good readout(u can pretty much tell like where the kick comes into the song, and where the bassline comes in) but i would just like to be able to browse through the next song and find the exact point i want to start from

No clue man. Sorry.

From what i recall you need two soundcards. Its in the settings somewhere and you select what you want each soundcard to output (Master/Headphones).

or u can buy a midi controller that has a sound card in it to use for preview

regardles... all i have to say is stop using virtual dj

k, so do most midi controllers have a soundcard built in?

also, what are some good choices for beginner dj's not wanting to spend too much on equipment (i'd say 400 dollars would be my maximum)

well VDJ is a toy...

A fun toy too

Just use what you prefer to use. But you can always give other software a chance and it's probably a wise move to do so too, you might find something that you like even more than this Virtual DJ.

While Traktor and other software might seem complicated at a first glance they usually will allow you to use a multichannel soundcard for more channels...or for headphones...

i originally learned on virtual DJ but i have to say it's really just a toy... a fun toy... but just a toy... when i decided it was time to get dedicated and serious i bought a behringer bcd 2000 and traktor, amazing setup
