At the risk of getting laughed at... 87.7

Every time ive visited or lived in the NYC area ive asked people if there was an EDM radio station. Every time people tell me there used to be one (pre 2005ish) or something, but not anymore.

Recently I was flipping through the dial and stumbled across 87.7

at first i thought it was pretty whack, mostly pop songs remixed into poppy dance music, like the kind they play on the first floor of Webster Hall right when you walk in.

then tonight I was listening to this mix by Johnny Budz, who I've heard on XM before, and it was iite.. a couple decent blends/mashups here and there

now I realize that its not PVD on Sirius or Armin, Vic Dinaire, or Ferry on XM radio, but still... it IS an EDM radio station in the city that might be alright... and since i'm sick of my own music for the moment, and am out of blank CD's, its a decent replacement...

thoughts? comments? haters??

first found out about it about a month ago and the first time I heard listened, I heard 'The Anthem' which was cool considering I've never heard that or a song like it on the radio before. Since then, I've heard many good mixes including 'If you should go'. They play much better mixes at night rather than during the day when its beginning to sound like KTU. Also, in Staten Island, the reception isn't very clear so that sucks.

i listen to it once in a while but mainly for star and buckwild in the morning
but yea when someone first said to check it out i was listening and i heard some edm but it was garbage like euro pop stuff
then i heard anthem and i hate that song with a passion but at the same time i was sayin to myself that if they play anthem then maybe they will play other trance songs but so far no luck
they do have some house songs and stuff but its nothing great
it would be good if they got some guest dj's to do some mixes like ktu on saturday night used to have

Does anyone remember Johnny Vicious's show on KTU (I think). That show is probably what had the most influence on me getting into the scene. It was before CDs & Mp3s were popular. I use to record all the shows on cassette tapes & listen to them on my walkman

John is actually a good friend of mine. Granted he gets a bad rep cause of his invovlement with KTU and thsoe crap compilation Cds he has put out in the past but he can throw down a wicked set when he wants to and as long as theres alot of JWB flowing

Haha, I finally found someone who is on the same page!! For a lack of anything better on , and in lieu of playing the iPod, my car radio stays on 87.7 I enjoy it

It doesn't come in that well in Long Island, but I think it comes from Queens so that should work.
