So, overall, what are the BEST headphones out there?
I know, I know, there are probably threads out there for headphones, but I urgently need to buy a pair for my next gig a few days away. I am very desperate ... I returned my (unspecified) pair to a store last week, need better ones ...
I want the focking best headphones out there. The most comfortable, high quality, good/loud sound, longevity, and so on. BEST SOUND REPRODUCTION.
Many thanks in advance!
P.S. Preferrably not Bose ...
Sony 7506 will dominate the replies.

Yeah, sorry guys for the redundant thread ... I guess then I'll buy myself 7506's. Never had them, though I had the amazing 7509's. Before someone stole mine and I suffered with 7509HD for 2 weeks before returning them.
Anyways, thanks.
Lets beat a dead horse again...
HEADPHONES ARE A PERSONAL PREFERENCE!!!
Mine personal preference is...
SENNHEISER HD25
And I've gone through most of them... 7506, Pio's, Technics, blah blah blah blah...

v6 is a hype, yes their good but not THAT good.

Since this thread has gone beyond 2 posts (the second being 7506 reply), how do you wear your headphones?
The thing that prompted me to get ones with round cups was so I could have the headband in any position. Oval earcups fit the ear better and probably seal better as well, but you must wear them over your head.
So, the question is: how do you wear your headphones, and how often?
The one thing I have against HD-25's is that they are supra-aural, which I find may get uncomfortable after a while.
I wear them around my thigh, then I bend my leg over my head.

Impressive!
haha, I couldn't think of a witty reply.
Nevertheless, I lol'd. =)
ultrasone dj1 no doubt
I know you picked up a pair recently; how do they sit on your head? I had a pair of HD280s and they looked really funny when I was wearing them, because the headband would stick out ridiculously far.
I'm just wondering, as the DJ1's look to be roughly the same headband system.
just go find the $1000 AKG K1000's

I think I'll end up buying these, given time:
Sennheiser HD 650 - $499

along with this important cable upgrade:
Cardas Cable for Senn HD580, HD600 & HD650 (10ft) - $222

Good headphones doesn't equal good DJing headphones.
There are loads of pairs with incredible sound quality designed for studio use that just wouldn't put up with a month's use being taken from club to club and treated slightly more roughly (even if you're really careful with your headphones, club use batters them a lot more than using them in the studio).
Also, perfect sound quality also doesn't mean they're ideal for DJing - one of the reasons I like the HD25s is that they aren't too bassy, in fact their bass response, while quite clear, is slightly out of proportion with the mid and high frequencies. In the studio this isn't really what you're after, but when DJing in a club it works well because too much bass can make the other frequencies unclear.
And comfort when you're constantly taking the headphones off and putting them on (like in a club) isn't the same as comfort when you're sat in the studio mixing a track down. Comfort is the part that has the biggest effect on preference - personally I hate headphones which cover the whole ear because in a hot club they can get really sweaty, but some people prefer them as they block out more of the surrounding sound.
Those AKGs look like they'd be the most uncomfortable thing to put on/take off your head every 2-3 mins.
Go to a shop, try some.

the fit on the ultrasones are extremely comfortable and form fitting, also i'll mention that the noise cancelling is excellent better than anything i have ever used. the sound is amazing as well.
Wow, at first reading your response I couldn't help but think you were joking. Seems like you weren't though; glad someone provided a sensible response (which I wouldn't have done, but instead would have "recommended" a pair of ridiculously expensive audiophile headphones).
Hopefully your new 7506's will last long time. They are completely capable of doing so, at least some of the older ones. Hopefully the quality hasn't changed.
