Bt

Where's the BT thread? Isn't he coming in two weeks? Is nobody else excited about seeing him?

I'm not going to lie, I had to look up what that was from. Haha.

I'm not exactly sure what kind of set to expect from BT, but I know he has done some great stuff. I will be there for sure and hope a lot of u guys will be there. Maybe I'll run into you Scott.

Bt plays a fair amount of breaks with a smidge of progressive and then throw in a bunch of his own productions.

I haven't seen a BT DJ set, but I saw him live at WMC and it was killer. He puts on a great performance.

That's cool. Sounds like it will be interesting. A little different from what I usually enjoy, but I still think I will like it. A lot of his productions are top notch, so I'll be looking forward to seeing what he does.

According to the official flier for this show, which was on his myspace, he will be doing a "Live Laptop Symphony." Is this just a fancy way of saying dj set? Or is this some kind of special thing he does?

Posted by SlackerBoy9 on Jun-29-2008 17:09:

yeah its basically a laptop dj set .... which is funny considering years ago he had shirts that on the back said "still not a dj"

Rasta woooooo for 28!

it's my birthday so buy me lots of stella artois!

Posted by PVDfan07 on Jul-10-2008 20:26:

Well, this show is tomorrow and we never got an official thread like we do most the times. That's ok. I'm just honestly surprised BT hasn't stirred more of a discussion. Deadmau5 already has 3 pages and he isn't here for a month. But anyways, hope to see some of you there. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does.

Posted by Caution_BiPolar on Jul-10-2008 22:07:

That's because BT sucks and Deadmau5 doesn't

j/k. Never seen BT, but I never liked him much, either... so saving money.

Posted by Liquified on Jul-11-2008 00:06:

Ticket sales are huge for BT. Going to be a really good show

Posted by MunkyAngel on Jul-11-2008 15:39:

let's party!!

p.s. Devin what is the likelihood of friends that haven't got tickets and purchasing them at the door???

Hrm...as a last minute decision, I think I might go....

But it's not sold out, is it?

Posted by PVDfan07 on Jul-12-2008 08:15:

Well, I guess I will go ahead and be the first to review before I go to bed. I thought BT was pretty good. I enjoyed his set altogether. I was kind of surprised to see him stop at 2:15, was there a reason for that? He started around 12:30, so his set was a little short. Besides that, I really can't complain. Can't say he blew me away, but still pretty good.
As far as tracks I can remember him playing:
Dreaming-BT
Break My Fall-Tiesto ft. BT
Flaming June-BT
Can't Sleep-A&B
I know there were others I knew, but they aren't coming to me now.
All in all a fun night.

You made it didn't you? I think I recognized you there because I remember you being the guy at the Armin show with the sign. If so, maybe you can help out with figuring out some tracks at this show. I remember you mastered the Armin tracklist.

Posted by keithos27 on Jul-12-2008 12:57:

wow he played "can't sleep" haha! i wanted to go but was feeling under the weather. i'm actually listening to "this binary universe" right now... just got a surround sound system and listening to the dvd on DTS... it's pretty sick!

Posted by Calamar on Jul-12-2008 13:55:

At the last minute I decided to drop by (against my better judgment, since I had to wake up early this morning), and only stayed from about 12:15 to 2:00 -- but I suppose I didn't miss much BT afterward, which is some consolation?

Yeah, that was the highlight of my night -- I totally didn't see that coming! I wasn't too sure what to expect from BT, but it exceeded my expectations. I was kinda hoping for some old BT classics I recognized (namely Somnambulist), but the trance he dropped was probably better, anyway. :P

Posted by Calamar on Jul-12-2008 14:19:

Oh, just remembered an another awesome moment: BT played an Imagine remix!

... Not Armin van Buuren's Imagine, but rather John Lennon's, which was wholly unexpected. I guess a mash-up of the two would be even more original, though ...

Posted by MunkyAngel on Jul-12-2008 15:36:

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

okay firstly HAPPY FREAKING BIRTHDAY TO ME that was hella fucking fun last night. Kevin Dispain set was fucking awesome he got the crowd going..but the time kept getting later and later. Seriously if the Headliner DJ is NOT going to play for 4 hours don't ADVERTISE it!! JUST BE FUCKING HONEST WITH US DAMNIT! BT DID NOT go on till 12:30 am and went of the tables at 2:15...um you can do the math yourself and know that is totally not 4 hours. It was a good set while he was on but we all were severely disappointed he was not on any longer!

Him starting off with that mashup / remix / whatever the hell it was of "Imagine" was perfect for the beginning of his set.

Having never seen BT before, I really didn't know what exactly to expect but I can say....he blew away any expectations I had. Aside from the short set (12:30 - 2:15 if I recall correctly?) I had an absolute blast. His set was non-stop energy from start to finish and I would love to see him again when he comes back.

Was dancing my ass off too much to really pay much attention to ID tunes (other than the ones listed) but one missing is Deadmau5 - Not Exactly. The crowd went absolutely crazy on this tune and I think it was great of him to somewhat "pay homage" to our upcoming visit from the Mau5 I think the reaction of the crowd shows how big his should will be next month.

Great seeing Scott and LeeAnn for the first time since I think Scott opened for G&D in Dec 2005. Nice also meeting Verndog(sp?) from NY and SlackerBoy from FL. Great also seeing Bobby (DesiGuy) and Samira.

Next stop for me - Deadmau5!

Posted by iammesol on Jul-12-2008 15:56:

Samira

Haven't seen her since Holden

Yeah, at around 2 he played Dreaming, stopped, then came back for an encore of Flaming June. Those were the right songs weren't they? I think all of us were a little disappointed with the early ending, but you only missed a couple songs Calamar. It exceeded my expectations too as I really wasn't sure what to expect. He played some good trance along with some pretty good other stuff, and I too thought the Imagine remix was pretty cool.

Posted by Caution_BiPolar on Jul-12-2008 16:59:

I was peer pressured into attending this at the last minute and was actually glad I came out. I enjoyed the set, but was actually turned off by the afore-mentioned hour and 45 minute time slot.

There are a few other things that bugged me that I'd kinda like to hear some of the rest of y'alls feelings on...

Entrance line: Why is it just one now? It sucks for Will Call people to have to wait in line after they have a ticket, and it sucks for guest list people because they can't get in on time. It went SOOO much smoother when there were two. You'd think as the venue got a little more popular, they'd add more lines, not cut one.

Hired dancers: At least I'm assuming that the chick last night and the crazy raver-lookin' chick from Lawler is some sort of test drive on how those chicks may "enhance our experience". I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I enjoyed WetBar because it doesn't seem like the every day trendy clubs, and this stuff just seems like a sellout. I don't know many true EDM fans who give a poo if there are dancers.

Blocking off the stage: Okay, maybe this had more to do with BT. But the stage used to be my getaway from the flailing cokeheads knocking everyone over near the front.

What do the rest of you think? I'm kinda feeling bummed that it looks and feels more like Opera every time I walk in there...
